Undergraduate / "you're like the whitest black guy I know" - Apply Texas Topic B [3]

i think you should maybe pick a quote from barack obama that stood out to you and maybe that will be all you need to finish up the essay. it should give you a new direction that brings about more of your passion. great start, though :)

Undergraduate / Rollover car accident which prevented me from starting school on time [3]

*****i'm looking for help improving some of my word choices. and really getting my point across in ONLY 500 WORDS. this paper is currently 498. PLEASE HELP!*****

Silent screams burst from my lips as the car was sent into a spin. 'I know how this ends.' I thought to myself, as I allowed my memory to retreat to November 23, 2008; the day a close friend of mine, Carlos, had his life taken from the back passenger seat of our friend's car. There I was, back passenger, as I listened to my friends, Brent, Cam, and Nick, plead for the car to stop. In all of the commotion I could clearly see the tree that I was sure would take my life until before I knew it, I was upside down, hanging by my seat belt.

Drip after drop more and more blood fell from my body. At the time I wasn't sure where it was coming from, nor did I care; I was alive, and so were all three of my friends. As they scurried out of the car I sat there in utter disbelief that I was still breathing. "Come on out, Meg," they said to me, "it's okay we're all right here for you." they surrounded the car and each gave me a hand to crawl out. Immediately, we walked away from the car in fear that it was leaking oil, and that's when it hit me.

The strip of road which had just threatened our lives was rising to meet me, as the grass on the other side began to stretch further and further out of my reach. The house that I could once see was spinning around me and as calmly as I could I expressed my need to lay down. I claimed my spot on the grass trying my best not to let my friends see my pain. On my right sat Brent, one of my closest friends for the past three years and just as important to me was Cam, on my left. They each held my hand and I could hear the fear in their voices as they told me they loved me. I tried my best to assure them I'd be fine but the slice across my eye and multiple cuts on my body showed them different.

Within minutes I was in the ambulance answering every question that came my way and expressing the pain I was feeling in my right shoulder blade. Soon enough we were at Baystate Medical Center's emergency room and I was laying in my bed propped up just enough to see my mother's broken face as she pulled back the curtain to enter my area, and just behind her, my strong, but scared father. I can't begin to imagine the emotions that over came them when they saw their baby of six children laying in the emergency room covered in dirt and blood. They rushed to take my hand and as positively as I could I repeated, "I'm fine.". Multiple stitches, two brain lesions, vestibular rehab, and one shattered shoulder blade later, I'm Megan Casey, and my story has just begun.
