Undergraduate / 'very high expectations for me' - SUPERMAN [2]

Superman

Do you remember Clark Kent? He is the guy from the nineteen hundreds action comic book series. Oh, he is just a nobody- an ordinary man with nothing special or whatsoever! But behind this persona, hides a truly special man. He is the seemingly immortal and all-powerful hero- Superman.

Superman reminds me so much of my brother. My brother is brave, strong, smart, and above all, kind. He's is certainly someone who made an impact in my life. He continuously influences me in a positive way and inspires me to be just like him.

We share a very close relationship. He helps me whenever he can. I look up to him whenever I am in trouble or just in need of someone to talk to. Our age gap is big- four years apart, but despite that, the age difference never really seemed to matter to us. We looked at each other as equals and we share the same interests. We listen to the same kinds of music and even read the same kinds of books!

It was because of that large age gap that I was forced to mature a little earlier compared to my peers. I enjoy listening to the classics such as those composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the oldies as well such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys. I read books like The Da Vinci Code, A Brief History in Time and The Critique of Pure Reason. It was somewhat strange growing up enjoying things like reading the Discovery magazine while everyone else was busy reading Total Girls, but my Supermanly-brother had always backed me up and eventually, it did pay of.

He has also taught me plenty of things. He taught me to open my mind and to listen before I reason. He always tells me to never think like how most people do. He used to tell me: "Think out of the box. Be as unconventional as you can and you will succeed."

Holding very high expectations for me, I did all I can to make him proud. He has always pushed me to my limits so that I can be the best that I can be. I can still remember him cheering like a madman when I won my first competition in gymnastics. He encouraged and supported me in any new interest I developed. And I can tell you with confidence that it is easier to succeed when you have someone behind you one hundred percent of the way.
