UCAS essay - economic and financial problems [5]
A close inspection of any graded newspaper or journal will probably demonstrate that more of the headlines address economic and financial problems than any other issue. Economics represents an indispensable part of our everyday life. As customers we try to bargain for the least possible price so to make best out of our limited earning. As producers we try to make optimum use of resources to maximize profit and satisfy consumers' needs and wants. As citizen of the country we are influence by the government decision regarding taxation, subsidies, grants etc. As dwellers on the Earth we are affected by the economic decisions of our fellows: the air we breathe, the water we drink, the international relations we keep and the environment we leave for future generations are all affected by the economic decisions taken by the human race. These stimulating facts lure me to explore more about the subject and it was this thirst that made me to opt for economics at my A-levels.
Last year, I took part in an economics and business project called JC Street in which I along with some of my mates set up a small stall and sold products to students at our school. I enjoyed the chance to put some of my business economic theory into practice like bulk buying and reducing profit margin to maximize sells. This experience boosted my communication and management skills.
To make myself known to corporate environment I worked at a private firm for four weeks in strategy development department. This experience taught me much about teamwork, time management and enhances my various interpersonal skills.
In spare time, I enjoy playing chess and solving puzzles. These hobbies of mine help me in developing spatial, numerical and administrative-directional abilities.
I also volunteered for an NGO- Make A Wish Foundation, where I came across several less privilege children which developed in me the avidity to bring a change and for this I also made a documentary on child labor to vow my voice against social and physical injustice.
