'Corporate in an IT Strategy' - MBA Admission in AGSM, Australia [4]
What are your professional goals? How will an MBA from AGSM MBA Programs help you? (approx. 250 words)
Ans:
I started my professional career in Technical Support in an Indian Call Center. I quickly moved into the Software programming, working for a couple of small companies in India, following which I joined IBM as a Techno-functional ERP Consultant. In 2007, I was transferred to the USA as an Onsite Coordinator; today I am the Project Manager as well as Service Delivery Manager for an IBM account. While working with various Fortune 500 clients in the USA, I noticed that technology has been used more as a tactical solution to different business processes rather than as a strategic solution at an Organization level. My goal is to develop an expertise in pricing and marketing of different IT Solutions which would help my future clients to synergize their IT Plan with their Business Plan.
This is where the MBA from AGSM will help me. The scenario modeling and simulations and the case study method in AGSM will help me to look at the business decisions in investments into IT, quantify them from a financial perspective, and derive an ROI. With the help of the MBA, I will get a wider perspective and a more holistic approach to understand business, and then tie that back to the IT investment.
Directly out of business school, I want to join a Corporate in an IT Strategy role, to service the technology as well as the pricing of the IT Product/Service of the company or its clients. On a longer term, I want to start a company which will provide consultancy on the "best-fit" software and services for different budgets. My ultimate dream is to make a difference to the world, where my expertise in Information Technology Strategy and Pricing will help IT services be available even to the poorest in the world, thus bringing down the Digital Divide.
