Undergraduate / "Knowledge is power" - U Michigan/ extracurricular activities or work experiences [2]
I've never really been the best writer and you can probably tell by the essay below, but just any comments or corrections you could offer would really be a great help. thanks and God Bless.
Prompt: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum).
Essay: Last year, I began volunteering at the Goodwill store near our house. Since then, I have experienced a change of heart and learned many great lessons. In my mind, nothing is better than the warm feeling of giving to others in need. Through volunteering at Goodwill I have met countless amazing people and done much work in developing my passion of learning. Only through volunteering have I been forced outside of my comfort zone and into the real world, where poverty, homelessness, and hunger are very real and present. This experience has given me a new mindset with higher goals and desire for understanding. As Francis Bacon said, "Knowledge is power." Living the diversity in Goodwill has opened my eyes to the wealth of knowledge that exists to be shared. I believe everyone, through any life experience, has their own slice of wisdom to offer. I seek to become the best version of myself I can be. Through listening, learning, hard work, do undertake this task.
