Undergraduate / 'Mixed Martial Arts accentuated my passion and desire as a future physical therapist' [NEW]

I need to work on the conc and intro more. I just need pro help :(

You are a product of your environment. If this statement is true, all my actions and surroundings have sculpted me in the direction of becoming a physical therapist.

Throughout my middle school and high school years, I was always considered the weakest kid in class. Wanting to change my physique, I looked up an online bodybuilding program and began on a quest to increase my size. Ultimately, my inexperience and limited knowledge lead to many injuries due to incorrect weight lifting form. For example, I hurt my knee during an improper squatting session and I had two options presented to me by my doctor: to undergo invasive surgery or seek a physical therapist. I chose the latter due to the affordability but I was still skeptical that someone could rehabilitate and essentially "heal" me without putting me under the knife. As I was being evaluated and treated by the therapist, I began to gradually heal. After a few quick weeks, I noticed a considerable improvement in range of motion and the pain subsided. In addition to my physical treatment, the personal attention and encouragement from my physical therapist enhanced my courage throughout the healing process. The one-one treatment, the compassion and the support that I received helped me confidently gain full mobility of my knee which later fostered my passion of body building. This experience was one of the first life changing encounters that instilled the career path of a physical therapist.

In college, I decided to pursue Mixed Martial Arts or MMA that further accentuated my passion and desire as a future physical therapist. Through the brutal and rigorous training regimen that MMA provides, joint and ligament injuries are all too common to fighters. Too many of teammates and best friends have the potential to enter the UFC, but are plagued by career ending injuries that can easily be prevented or healed through physical therapy. With my physical therapy technician background, I make it my obligation to in Yves Edwards, rehabilitate his knee problem and win his debut fight with the UFC. This experience helped me gain a glimpse of mentorship, an aspect that lies central to physical therapy. To help Yves Edwards, a friend and training partner, come from humble poor beginnings to a lucrative career in the UFC was monumental accomplishment that I wish to repeat more often in my life by helping my own patients and helping them realize and reach their own goals.

According to an online survey, physical therapists have one of the best turn outs in terms of happiness levels relating with their career. (NEED WORK)
