Undergraduate / 'My moving to America from Africa' - APLLICANT ESSAY TO LIBERAL ART COLLEGE [3]

"Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve,"

In today's world, it goes without a say that education is the key in life, it is also the main hope for people to actively contribute to the fullest of their potential. Hence education specify how we are judged and perceived by the world, and so if attained, education can be a greater tool for ones future. As a kid, I grew up in a country known as Tanzania. This was and still is a country deprived of education. Even with the desire to learn, students will find schools either too expensive to afford or short of qualified teachers. When I was growing up in Tanzania, my friends and I often times got into a hot debate on whose dream were more important to our community. My dream, as I vividly remembered it for it part of my everyday life and thus I was very passionate of it, had to do with machines and their interactions with the human body. Originally, as far as my case and for most of the kids and friends that grew up with me and my generation, our dreams and ideas were heavily influenced by the things we watched on TVs and especially movies. This was so, in part due to lack a role model to look up too. Marking possibly the highest peak introductory of televisions into Tanzania at the time, televisions thus were as much contributing factor as booming for the economy. Interested only in science or sci-fi kind of movies, I remember at times after watching movies like "the terminator" my head would be filled, with all sorts of curiosity and ideas. Besides, "consuming garbage in my head" as my grandfather used to tell me, at home and around my community, I was a well-known mechanic who could fix anything that was thrown my way. Fortunately for me, Tanzania, still a developing country, its technology then, as far as my community was concerned was very young and thus nothing that needed fixing proved to be complicated or rather advance for me. Consequently, and apart from increasing my fame as a mechanic, my confidence to solve things grew and far more importantly this ensured my curiosity and my path to my dream, were not diverted.

Perhaps the most significant event or rather a turning point in my life was my coming to America. Since then, my entire life and my dreams were revolutionized. Apart from the adjustments that I needed to make from moving to America from Africa, life here in America has both contrive and challenged me heavily into the a person I am today. Gone were the easy days of feeling the overconfidence of tackling things head on and feeling like I am on top of the world, but rightly so did I accept this new challenge, without my intellectual consciousness being intimidated. Already I realized that I was in an extraordinary league of people who thought like me and many had the same dreams as I but where on a different scale of knowledge. Moreover, my passionate path to my dream and thereupon, my future remained strong.

Furthermore, due to the high education that I have received so far here in America and specifically at Bunker Hill Community College, has helped me to properly realize my dream, of which is to become a biomedical engineer. My 3.2 G.P.A and my frequent appearance on dean's list has increased my confidence and taught me a proper lesson that hard work pays off. Hence, I now realize what I hope to accomplish through biomedical engineering, is to forever hold the torch and further extend the knowledge of sciences into a far greater revolutions and discoveries, such is the future I have envisioned for myself. Therefore, as I have stressed before, education is an irreplaceable tool in improving the world today. Following this further, I consider myself fortunate to become well cognizant of this basic understanding. Realizing that I am still a work in progress, it is my wish to transfer to your institute. your renown quality of high education is well known by many but by few who fully comprehend its uniqueness, considering myself those few, I strongly believe that I can be a positive asset to your institute. I have thoroughly done my search for a perfect school for me and I have learned that a liberal arts college is what I prefer mostly as oppose to a large university. I believe education becomes special and even unique when the relationship between the teachers and students is close one. Far more importantly, I understand that the work load that teachers get from a rather large class affects, in turn how they teach their students. That being the case, the collaboration between your faculty and undergraduate students is very important to me. Henceforth, I seek the pride that one has from attending and obtaining education from the school that they love, and it is all the more reason why I have chosen ________college.
