Having accumulated over six years of professional experience in the IT industry, I now aspire to take my career to the next level and assume a management position in the IT division of a hospital. My interest in this line of work stems from my experience working in Bioinformatics, first at XXXcompany, and later at the YYYcompany and the at ZZZZ company as well as at AAA company. I was fortunate to be in close day-to-day contact with leading health care professionals, Bioinformatics scientists, and computer scientists, and from these experiences I have become convinced of how rewarding and meaningful a career in Health Informatics could be. Therefore, in order to acquire the academic qualifications that I will need to advance and achieve my goals, I am applying to join your MS program in Health Informatics, commencing in the fall of 2013.
The principal reason I have decided to apply to the Health Informatics program is that it is reputable for its research facilities and computing resources. The department web site revealed a very strong faculty involved in extensive research in the area of Health Informatics. This has strengthened my resolve to study at University. I believe the Health Informatics program will be able to challenge me in the rigorous research environment that I am used to, while at the same time being an optimal place where I can apply my unique skills. Moreover I am eager to study in US which is known for its rich culture and vibrant academic environment.
My longstanding fascination with science, biology, and evolution led me to major in Biological Science for my Bachelor's degree. Although I learned a great deal from this program, my grades were only above average due to my lack of focus and uncertainty regarding my career goals. As I matured, however, I began to more clearly see the importance of education, and when studying for an MSc in Bioinformatics, I performed at the top of the class, passing with First Division from University. With the knowledge and research skills I acquired in University, I would be prepared to work at top R&D organizations in India, A country, and B
country, and establish a reputation as an innovative team player with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
In addition, during my five years in the university, I attended many Math, Computer science as well as health Science related courses including Math Model and Bio-Statistics, Research Methodology, Operating system, Object Oriented Programming , Database development and their management, Computational Biology, Comparative Genomic and Proteomics, Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology, and Genetics, just a name of few.
And also, acquired advanced knowledge and deep understanding of the field of Bioinformatics and Apart from that I not only successfully completed One year advanced Diploma in Software Engineering from OOInstitute but also, earned Six months certification course in computer science while pursuing my Bachelor's degree as I was really fascinated by learning different programming techniques and studying computer science since my childhood and my interest and devotion to the subject is evidenced by passing with A+ grade. During my time in university I had a positive attitude and developed good relationships with both classmates as well as professors.
Learning through experience is always a lot different from learning through books.
After graduating from the university I began working as a Software Developer for company. During my training at company, I initially trained in Software Development using Microsoft .NET Technologies, and I greatly enjoy this position as it involved analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints, problem isolation and analysis, Code generation, Testing and Maintenance tasks and as a result, during this period I learned many valuable skills such as how to communicate effectively at workplace, organization abilities, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, importance of cooperation and teamwork in the workplace that I strongly feel, have made me more capable and well rounded person.
And later on through my work at B company in the US, I become more comfortable in working fast paced, demanding and challenging IT environment. Despite my busy schedule at workplace, I found time to learn more and hone my IT skills and therefore I successfully completed the requirements to be recognized as Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD.Net) for Microsoft .Net Platform.
These experiences are instrumental in developing my leadership and communication abilities, and most importantly, I have learned how to work both independently and as part of a group while meeting deadlines under pressure
Overall, I expect that my work experiences will be immensely useful when in graduate school, as I will be able to draw upon the skills that I have learned and overcome any challenges that I may face
Furthermore, Pursuing MSc in Health informatics from your university is professional degree worldwide and it will be easier for me to fulfill my dreams of becoming a Health informatics professional and getting a good job in India. Moreover, by doing this degree from University I will get good exposure and it will also enhance my overall personal development and finally I feel that MSc at your university will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives.
I would be grateful to you if I'm accorded the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies with financial assistance at your institution and am able to justify your faith in me.
And I am very thankful for your consideration of my application.
