Book Reports / English Literature paper on Oedipus Rex [4]

We have to choose a possible controversy in Oedipus Rex and take a stance on it, and have three pieces of evidence.

Topic: Did Sophocles in fact write just a tale of the tragedy of a good man, or is it actually a lesson to all of mankind?

(The lesson being that Oedipus couldn't outwit the gods)

Three pieces of evidence: Religion, preordained destiny, and the responsibilty of others.

I have my doubts on making this work, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
