Dear Sir/Madam,
At this time, I would like to apply for R internship 2012.
Currently, I am following the Master's in Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science (QFAS) program of T. This world renowned program will equip me with the latest knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods in finance. Before matriculating at the QFAS, I obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the A. There, I chose to specialize in Mathematical Computer Science and Statistical Methods, fields which helped me see abstract Mathematics in a new light and apply mathematical ideas and analysis to a wide range of problems. Moreover, I acquired a scholarship during the first year of the course for being among the top ten students with the highest average grade and I was ranked among the top 15% of all students who graduated that year.
In addition to my degree, I also have a solid work history that has taught me a number of important work skills. I recently undertook work experience at D, a quality tutoring service that focuses on University level students. There, I helped students improve their understanding of a wide array of subjects such as Calculus, Statistics and Numerical Methods. Furthermore, I have supported and consulted in the preparation of numerous theses. In sum, working for this company has further complemented my mathematical background by providing the additional social skills necessary to assist others and by refining my research skills.
I strongly believe that the R internship is a perfect opportunity to experience a blend of academic and practical research and learn valuable business insights and practices of such an important company. I strongly believe that the analytical reasoning I gained during my applied mathematical studies, along with the quantitative finance education and my experiences in offering mathematical solutions make me an ideal candidate for this position.
