Undergraduate / I love to develop & design systems ; CUNY - Why degree in Engineering? [3]

Hi guys. Can you please read my essay and tell me what you think. Tell me if you spot a grammatical error or the essay is just plain bad.

Explain why you have chosen to obtain a degree in engineering. Discuss any experiences you may have had and/or people you have known who influenced your decision. Your response should be no more than 150-250 words.

I have always been fascinated by how things worked. As a kid, I would love to take apart broken computers and cellphones and see what was inside. In high school I was able to get opportunities in my interests. Since I went to a vocational school, I had classes in electricity, hydraulics, sheet metal, etc. In electricity class I learned many things from: the basic principle of electricity, to how to troubleshoot an electric circuit. Taking these classes made me realize that I am interested in pursuing a degree in engineering. Sadly however, my high school gave us opportunities to become technicians rather than engineers. I want to know how to develop and design systems, not how to fix them. The Grove College of Engineering is an ideal engineering school due to the high standards maintained by the City College of New York. I believe that this school will help me further my knowledge on engineering and will aid me in pursuing my interests as a future engineer.
