Undergraduate / I have become 'fan' of something ;NYU Supplement - Campus Choice/Short-Answer Essays [NEW]
Hi everyone!
I'm applying to NYU as a transfer student, and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to go over my essays + give some feedback. Any help is truly appreciated!!

As I am interested in the field of public relations, my primary campus of choice is NYU's New York City campus. Not only does this campus have a stellar communications program, the school is also situated in an unbeatable location in regards to diversity of internship opportunities. Undoubtedly, New York City is the home to the best PR companies - Edelman, Ogilvy, Ruder Finn, just to name a few - and as a student hoping to work in PR in the future, it would be an amazing opportunity if I were able to intern in any of these companies and gain practical experience during my time at NYU. If accepted to this campus, I plan to waste no time and immerse myself in as much PR knowledge as possible.

Over the course of the last two years of academia, I have found myself most interested in two particular subjects - this would be public relations and the Japanese language. My initial exposure to the first subject was stemmed through a PR summer internship in 2012, where I was able to immerse myself in this particular field and gain first-hand knowledge of what PR is about. Upon completion of the internship and taking relevant courses the following school year, I have decided to pursue PR as my major. On the other hand, my interest for the Japanese language has been present since my middle school years - it is only after coming to college however that I began taking Japanese language classes. Ergo, I plan to further my studies in these two subjects if accepted to NYU. I would first continue my studies in PR through NYU Steinhardt School's "Media, Culture, and Communication" department. I am eager to learn as much as possible from the various faculty members that teach subjects I have yet to explore, such as "visual culture and violence" or "crime and media" themed courses. Concurrently, I would like to advance my studies in the Japanese language at NYU while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture, and Communication. I aim to develop both academic interests into utilizable knowledge for future use, such as conducting PR related business with Japanese companies or for personal leisure.
What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or a place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, locaton, etc.), and explain its significance to you (1,500 Characs).
Four minutes: I was temporarily placed inside the shoes of an obsessed fan that wanted to get closer to a celebrity that he or she admired. Four minutes: I stared with my eyes wide at my computer screen, completely stunned and mouth agape. In the four minutes that I listened to the ominously themed song "Fan" by Korean hip-hop group Epik High, it had awakened a foreign world in my 15-year-old self, and I was hooked - and by foreign world, I mean a world for me that I now owe my curious nature to.
I remember my first question after completely researching on the song "Fan": Why was a song about obsessive fandom composed, is there a deeper reason? That was the first question to unlocking and developing my theoretical curiosity. I brainstormed all the possible answers to my question, scrutinizing from all feasible angles, and pushed myself to ponder more than what meets the eye. Over time, the fascination stemmed from "Fan" transgressed into my daily life. It excited me to analyze the thoughts and processes of everything around me, and this curiosity has allowed me to grow intellectually and rationally. It has helped me interact with individuals of various backgrounds, and has permitted me to better understand different opinions, which I feel is now a strength that will aid me in my future occupation of choice - PR. "Fan" may only be a song, but its influence has made me a better person, and I am glad that I have become 'fan' of something that invigorates me everyday.
