No education is complete without experience; LOM Renewable Energy/Masters Program [5]
Letter of Motivation
Dear Sir/ Madam
Firstly, I would like to express my appreciation for the opportunity to apply for the Master Program PPRE for the October 2013 intake in your esteemed University. I am very interested in this degree and I am confident that my strong academic background in Engineering, combined with my work experience, will fulfill your requirements.
At the graduation level, I placed myself in the group of Smart students with appreciable consistent results and deep interest in sports and extracurricular activities with good leadership qualities. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical with Distinction from North Maharashtra University in July 2012. My Final year project Titled "Adjustable Chassis for a Passenger car" was the outstanding result of my wholehearted effort, this project not only improved my result but also ignited the flame of strength and self confidence which made me understood my inner capabilities and passion to work on my imagination, which by the effort can be placed in the modern world.
I am a highly independent and innovative which constantly boost an urge to invent. This led me to think of the field which can collaborate my nature and my thoughts so that it can lead in same direction. Thus the Renewable Energy is the field, for the application of innovative Idea and work, on once independent way. So this was the reason I considered Renewable Energy as my field for the Masters program. My motivation was also for the reason, the development of the Asia's biggest Solar Park in my state "The Charanka Solar Park", which was my inspiration and goal to be a part of this contribution and work inside it.
No education is complete without experience. So after graduation I worked in Solar Division at Warm Stream Industry, Anand (Gujarat) as a Production & Q.C Engineer in Solar department.
Where I got the chance to understand and apply the theoretical study which I have done during the Graduation years. The job gave me the chance to understand the work flow in the Industry, the need of the customers and also gain experience from co-workers. Thanks to this 35 years old Industry with which, I have sharpened my critical thinking, problem solving and communications skills. This Masters study would give me frontline exposure to the technological advances made in this field and allow me to contribute to its immense development. This is the very reason for deciding to begin my graduate studies after obtaining an industrial experience.
My objective is to pursue the Masters in Renewable Energy field with specialized study in Solar Technology and Photovoltaic cell, taught entirely in English Language, plus living and breathing the international atmosphere and integrating with English and German speaking people in order to develop a third language. This is undoubtedly one of the motivations for studying in a country as multicultural as Germany. More significantly, that India is a fast developing country has generated various problems in Power generation field. So by solving problems faced by my country in this field of Power generation would definitely contribute for its Development and Prosperity of the People. Thus it is undoubtedly that my professional projects after completing the Master program in Germany is to record much contribution in this field which shall create opportunity and confidence necessary to work and contribute to the innovation of my region.
The reason for choosing Germany as the place for studying was mainly because of the field that I have selected. As the country itself have developed and contributed in the field to a larger extent compare to other countries of the world. I have always considered Germany as the birth place of Inventors and Thinkers. This country have also set an example for other countries how efficient and technological advance they are, I came to understand this fact from the following report which I heard in a Lecture by a scholar. According to the report amount of solar radiation gain by Germany is 1200 KWh/m2 while India receives 6.2 KWh/sq.m but its utilization by Germany is 65 to 75 % while India utilizes only about 30 to 40 %." So this clearly indicates how accurate and efficient work is done in this country. So it is clear that by studying from this Nation would definitely add more knowledge to my development. Also the Indo-German joint project that have been started in 2001 in the field of Energy itself and also the investment of GIF and KFW Development Bank for the project, directly state the contribution.
The main reasons for choosing is the University of Oldenburg is the high quality of education that the institution offers, the opportunity of meeting and associating with people from all over the world and to be immersed in a society with a global outlook and a model to be followed in my viewpoint. Also the experience that this university has since last 20 years would be a good contribution.
In concluding, Irrespective of high application prerequisites of this Master course, I am determined to make the most out of this Master course benefits. My interdisciplinary education will add more diversity to program. Furthermore, I will optimize my stay at The University of Oldenburg to garner a wealth of ideas that will immediately apply when I return to my country.
Thanking you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.
Sincerely yours,
Ketul R Shah
