Writing Feedback / City vs countryside (essay by 8th grader in Norway) [3]

Hello

Could i please get some feedback on this essay i wrote for my midterms about city life compared to the life on the countryside, im in 8th grade btw. And english is not my mother tongue.

Thanks! :)

Nowadays a lot of people live in cities, but some people also prefer the more quiet life on the countryside. What is the best choice for me? Why should I choose to live in a city? Why should I live in the countryside? This is just some of the questions I will discuss in this short essay.

1. Jobs and studies.
Almost all the big companies and corporations are located in cities. This might be the number one reason why people choose to live in a city! Because there are a lot of people in the city, there also has to be a lot of jobs there as well! In a small village the job market is smaller and different. If your dream is to ride dirt bikes for a living, or maybe you would like to be a farmer, then you should probably choose to live in the countryside. Another reason to live in a city is that almost all the universities are located in cities. You rarely find any universities in small communities, and therefore a career easier to pursuit in a city.

2. Scenery.
The countryside is a good place to live if you are one of those people who enjoy climbing mountains, cross country running or skiing, or just generally love being outdoors. Or for the people that can't stop looking at the mountains in the distant horizon. And also the good thing for your lungs and the nature is the fact that there is far less pollution in the countryside. In the city you might also find some parks and a couple of trees, but it is not the same. But with that said you might find the tall skyscrapers much more fascinating than the snowy mountains. It is all up to you!

3. Cultural and social life.
Many families with small children decide to move out of cities and to a village. This is mainly because their kids can walk out of the door and play without the parents having to be as concerned about for example cars. There is proven to be more criminality in a city than in small communities.

In a big city you will find all of these: Theaters, nightclubs, operas, restaurants, museums and art galleries. You will not find all of these things in a village. Cities tend to have a large multicultural background which is good in terms of getting and sharing knowledge about other languages, foods and other aspects of the culture. And last but not least, there are also more people to socialize with in a city!

4. The conclusion
The beautiful scenery you will find in the countryside and the atmosphere is inevitable, the countryside can be ideal for families with small children. The city life might be ideal if you are a career focused person and/or if you are a cultural/social person. I like to live in a city, but it might change over the years as i will have to think about what i want to do in life. The first 6 years of my life i lived in a little village. I loved it, but as of now I would much rather live in a city. What you want do is up to you!
