'Interest in Management' - Motivation Letter for Master's Scholarship [4]
"I would like to apply for Master's Scholarship (PPGG) for the academic year 2013/2014. I am very interested in this degree and I hope that my academic background will fulfill the requirements of the Master course.
My interest in management dates back to my journey to find a job. Among several announcements of job vacancies, I was always attracted to those related to management field.
Since 2003 I have been working in the domain of training and education management. During my work I have been well equipped with managerial tools. In 2011 I joined a diploma for training management in order to enrich my theoretical and practical knowledge, however it didn't meet my needs as it concentrated on a narrow branch of management.
My aim is to gain analytical and practical knowledge about public management on international ground, in addition to the interactions between other sectors of society. I am confident that my educational and occupational background will be a good asset for my realization in the field of public management and good governance.
The responsibilities of my current position are to follow up the administrative and paperwork procedures for delegates from my institution either to pursue their postgraduate studies abroad or to enrich their scientific knowledge by attending activities related to their scientific disciplines. During my work I always had the feeling that the development of any country or any institution depends not only on the scientific aspects, but also on the administration aspects because the success always derives from good management practices.
For me, this is really a crucial time. Syria appeals to every Syrian, especially young generation to promote the identity of their country. As a responsible person, I am enthusiastic to promote public mentality by contributing in developing the concept of good governance in Syrian society which is still transiting to genuine democracy, rule of law, transparency, social justice and the protection of human rights. The current situation of my country demands every Syrian to be a responsible towards the development of his home country.
In order to be a part of the reform process of the public administration in Syria, I must enrich my thinking about the real concept of the country development which concentrates on the transition from procedural-based management to management by results-oriented policies and services rendered.
Actually, I am not looking for a state-prestigious profession. However, I would like to play an effective role for my country's salvation. Every country in the world faces crises either political or economic. Creative and well-educated people are the one who will play a main role in the revival and the development of their country.
In order to effective, I mustn't be in a cage, but I have to study the experiences of developed countries, to be open to updated concepts.
Syria is the land where I was born, where I brought up and where I studied. Every place in Syria has a special memory for me. Syria has the right to be the land of history, culture and development.
Since polluted environment gives birth only to administrative body which is already born sick, it is the time to start with a deep administrative reform of the public sector stands on a new pattern of management which is characterized with competence, dedication, transparence, calling to account and independence because mismanagement is the base of the backward of this sector.
The process of reforming and developing this sector is not a purely technical administrative one, but it is a process which has economic and social dimensions, as it relates to concepts, values, directions and patterns of behavior on a state and individual- level. Therefore, all problems and obstacles facing the public sector are only secretions and outputs of the surrounding economic and social environment.
I would like to study at one of the esteemed German universities in order to have the chance to touch the cutting-edge of developments in management science and different cultures as well as to taste different flavors of life.
Germany is the land of science, literature, development and economy. The importance of German universities is indisputable, nobody can ignore that they are the world's greatest in all disciplines. For me, Germany is one of the world's most admired countries, whether viewed from the perspectives of economics, quality of life, scientific achievement, cultures, tourism, or ethical value. In addition to that, having been in contact with some of your alumni has served to deepen my interest in joining your Master Programme.
After obtaining the Master's degree, I intend to resume my work and to implement what I learnt. I hope that I can make the greatest contribution in the institutional reform in my country because public management is a real challenge for every society"
