How has your family history, culture or environment influenced who you are?

I remember when I was small, my queen sized bed felt like it was a (description here) and my Aladdin sheets seemed to swallow me whole. I don't think that I was even old enough for school but my mom came into my room, a book in between her arms. I remember looking up with so much curiosity, I'd been begging for a book for a while, I didn't care that I wasn't old enough, I just wanted to read. My mom sat down with me, and read me the story of Snow White, without even realizing it she was setting me up to have the thirst for learning that I do know.

I live in a single parent home and in many ways this has always been a motivating factor for me in more ways than one. I knew at an early age that I wanted to be successful because I have seen my mother struggle to make ends meet for all of my life. My mom wanted better for me also, she worked hard to make sure that I had everything I needed to succeed in school. The biggest way she influenced me though was teaching me what's important in life. She taught me to follow my dreams no matter what, to be true to myself and most importantly that good things don't come to those who wait but those who get up and work for
