Graduate / My reason for wanting to pursue graduate physics in graduate school is simple; SOP [6]

The essay is good , except if you can give in more details about your specific research interest at that university.

Probably you could also include the on going research work going on at the particular university rather than only talking about their professors.

And how you could contribute or take further your research interest.

All the very best!

Graduate / I always wanted to become professional ; Masters in ECE; SOP [4]

Thanks i should do work more on clearly stating my goal with a much more detail. Also is the flow of the statement good , or i mean we are suppose to always start from schooling were this interest would have developed?

Hi guys my deadlines for colleges is due soon,i kindly request you to please give you valuable suggestions / feedback on the same.

Everything around us from the simplest household gadgets, to the most complex machines, infrastructures or services seems to have its beginning just in a thought, is an imagination. Engineering translates that thought into a tangible form. The amazing pace of change through inventions which merge features of electronics and computing attracts me. Thinking about hardware and software as mutually exclusive, is a thing of the past. The convergence of these two aspects presents opportunities and challenges for engineers to "glue" together new technologies which are intricately woven into the fabric of everyday life, with improvement in speed, processing capabilities, reduction in size and efficiency of processors that exemplify human contrive.

I always wanted to become professional who would have innumerous opportunities to take forward the new ideas of current times, transforming them to ground‐breaking technologies. With most industries switching to microprocessors and microcontrollers, my career goal is to be part of research and development in the field of Embedded Systems towards modernising the process control instrumentation industry. Few years down the line, I see myself working for world transforming technologies. A Master's degree at your esteemed University will help me acquire the necessary skills essential to fulfil my goal with exactitude.

Education in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering led to my first job at H.K.Tempsensors (India). Working here helped me see the application of theory in developing industrial applications which makes a huge difference in improving quality and reducing errors in production. My initial work was with design and development team to conduct diligence at client sites as the first stage of documenting areas of improvement. Pertinacious experimentation led to my first independent design and development of a SS head mounted Resistance temperature detector sensors with universal programmable temperature transmitters which met stringent global standards giving accurate response only within 6 seconds for the temperature range of (‐50) ~ 400 deg.C, giving a corresponding output in the range of 4~20 mA , which found application majorly in the hygiene industry (majorly Food & Dairy industries). It was thus, thrilling when the company received an order for my designed product from J.D.Corporation, who earlier imported these sensors and instruments from Europe at high import cost.

Encouraged by this success, I am currently designing a small, self powered sensing mote for measuring temperature and humidity possessing a Zigbee module to transfer data to the nearby system for monitoring. It has Atmel Atmega 128L processor, temperature and humidity sensors capable of measuring temperature in the range of (‐40) to 125 deg.C & 0~100% humidity. This product would be used in cold storage and grain storage rooms, paper and lumber productions, where monitoring the temperature and humidity is essential. Real-time readings would be available, permitting immediate safety preventive measures to be taken. With more ideas on the anvil, I intend investing in refining my research skills further, which is at the core of feeding the industry with a constant flow of feasible and more effective products.

Work experience builds on the foundation of knowledge gained through the engineering program. My undergraduate courses focused entirely in strengthening my basic fundamentals of Electronics and developing Programming skills. The major topics covered in my curriculum were Electronic Devices and Circuits, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Computer Programming (includes C, C++, JAVA, etc.), Electrical Networks, Control Systems and Digital Electronics. Microprocessors and Microcontrollers and Computer Programming were incontrovertibly the most interesting of the lot. I was enthralled by the magic woven by two fantastic digits, the Zero and the One on which the entire world is switching on day to day basis.

My first project in college was a 'Mobile Controlled Robot', used Dual tone multi frequency (DTMF) as one of the key principles of operation. The heart of the circuit was an AVR series micro controller (ATMEGA 64A) coded using Embedded C programming. Though the project was well beyond the scope of syllabus, it helped me achieve core knowledge of embedded software and programming. I presented this project during the state level Tech‐Expo competition held in our college. Other than that, I also undertook various mini projects e.g. making an Intel 8051 microcontroller based fast moving LED display and standard volume indicator (SVU) project. As a final year project I designed a Broadband C‐shaped gap‐coupled micro strip antenna which taught me about electromagnetic fields, optimising band width while designing antenna.

To learn a different aspect of electronics and process control instrumentation industry, I had also interned at Libratherm Instruments Pvt Ltd, where I worked with seasoned professionals to learn various aspects in manufacturing of microprocessor‐microcontroller based process control instruments. The next assignment in R&D department gave me an insight to the trouble shooting mechanisms and the intricacies in the functioning of microcontroller based 64‐channel data logger to record temperature. The overall experience not only sharpened my technical skills, but also exposed me to working under pressures, competing with deadlines and communicating efficiently.

Apart from technical activities, I became a good communicator through participation in debates and paper presentations in various national and international technical conferences. An interesting experience was working as a radio‐jockey for the Akaashwani radio station. With exceptional organisation and marketing skills, I earned laurels as the co‐publicity head for IETE student chapter, forum for Telecommunication students. The first‐hand experience of event management at college festivals Pulse and Parichay was insightful. Managerial capabilities were discovered by handling the 1000+ crowd..I also have achieved a first degree black belt in karate when I was just 15 years‐ my claim to fame through an article published in the local newspaper. These extracurricular activities have facilitated me to harness qualities like time and resource management, individual and group responsibility and physical strength and endurance.
