WHY DO I WANT TO BE A CPA-AICAP SCHOLARSHIP 2014 [6]
Essay Question 1: Why do you want to become a CPA and how will attaining this licensure contribute to your goals? How do you plan to become a licensed CPA (500 word max)
Accounting was not my first academic major in college-it was math. However, my instructor Ms. Amy Smith 101 accounting course forever changed my career path. My instructor's passion for accounting and teaching style inspired me to declare accounting as my major and pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
The flexibility of the accounting field attracted me to become a CPA. CPA's are afforded many career opportunities in auditing, governmental accounting and forensic accounting. They may work for a small local firm or even one of the Big 4 accounting firms. With a degree in accounting, I knew that I would be afforded a career and support myself.
CPA's must be well rounded in dissecting financial information, providing solutions to everyday problems, and developing strategies for company's growth and development. Becoming a CPA would allow me to develop my Cura Personalis-or develop the whole person. Through the profession, I will be able to gain knowledge in many areas of accounting and collaborate with other accounting professionals to speak the language of business and establish rules for accounting transactions.
In addition to being well rounded, CPA's are well respected within companies and organizations. To become a CPA requires extensive studying, experience, and the CPA examination. With a high level of respect and morality, I can provide better services to my organization and clients.
Lastly, becoming a CPA will allow me to give back to society. I can provide services for local churches and organizations. My CPA credentials will protect the organizations and churches from losing money as well as improve internal controls, budgets, and allocation of funds.
I plan to become a CPA after completing Nowhere State University Masters of Accountancy program. The structured program will challenge me inside the classroom as well as further my understanding of accounting. In addition, the program design will prepare me for the CPA exam and ensure that I have the required 150 semester hours to sit for the exam. After completing the Masters of Accountancy program, I will further my career with the State of Nowwhere as an accountant with the hope of eventually opening my accounting firm and providing auditing services.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) scholarships for minority students will remove the financial burden of graduate school. Hours spent on ways to afford graduate school can be applied to teaching society about what CPA's do. Not only will the scholarship finance my tuition, fees, books and course materials, but also the scholarships will fiancé the growth and development of minorities in the CPA profession.
I really need help with this. I feel that I don't answer the question. I want to be CPA because of job diversity, giving to others, and because I love auditing and looking at where companies spend money. The hard part is trying to put this in words :(. I fill like I'm saying what everyone else is saying and I want to stand out to receive the scholarship. Please review this and give honest details and opinions about how to improve this.
