Scholarship / An essay about interest in finance for scholarship application [3]

I aspired to become a businesswoman. During my high school years, I have to manage my own money since studying in boarding school means living independently. My father gave me RM150 every month and it is my job to manage it into savings, daily-spent etc. When it comes to be running short of money, I decided to start my own business in school, as my parents are not on hand to top up funds at the drop of a hat. Therefore, I start a small business by selling foodstuff to my schoolmate almost every day and earn about RM30 a day. It is quite a lot for me and that straightaway gain my confidence and experiences in making and managing money on my own. In just one month, my business had grown so fast, and I decided to add up a partner to work with me. Thus, develop good teamwork skills, making decision in many situations and train my leadership skill.
Additionally, I have served as the Publicity Manager for an annual event at my school in the past where I was responsible for marketing and helping organize several events and giving advices to food stalls team and merchandise booth.
I have always been good with numbers and in fact spent hours trying to figure out advanced problems in high school. Math remained my strongest subject in every exam. This may be an advantage for me in pursuing finance. Having realized that finance is about managing money and creating profit, I agreed that finance is the right major for me. Managing business since I was young is like a stepping-stone towards my interest. My experiences of managing my business had confirmed my interest in finance and my goal to become a successful businesswoman.
To me, learning more about financing seems challenging and thrilling. In the competitive world markets today, finding various methods to create profit seems like a rousing challenge to conquer. I am confident that if I am given the opportunity to study more in the field of financing, I will continue to gain knowledge, having better understanding in finance, learn strategic ways to manage, invest and make money grow, so that I may succeed in life as a businesswoman. I hope in pursuing this course, I can improve financial systems in my own country, Malaysia and internationally.
