Undergraduate / When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that's when passion is born [2]
When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that's when passion is born. As a wise man once said: when you select a profession which you're passionate about, work turns into play. Influential people like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, David Karp and many others followed their passions and thus fostered their dreams.
I was raised like every other child in India. Being the youngest in the family, everyone loved me. As I was growing, there were various points when I got nervous and I used to wonder what would I do in my future; how would I make a living as all my cousins and even my elder brother joined the family business. My uncle and my father could write poetries as my grandfather used to take them to Poetry telling functions when they were very young. Like my Grandpa, my uncle used to take me to these functions. This imbibed into me the appreciation of art. Art in the form of paintings, poetries and movies. But my father wanted me to be like him, he explained to me its good to have to personal interests but I should study Commerce and then get into the family business. But I wanted to be something else. I was fascinated by the world of cinema, the stories, the drama and the science behind it.
My parents never took this seriously. But fortunately, my cousins encouraged me to participate in the short film festivals as I was really good in writing stories and wanted to make short films. I made a team of my friends and found some college students who wanted to work with me as they liked the story and screenplay I wrote. I shot movies all evening and study during the morning. My father was angry on me and didn't talk to me until the short film fest '13 award function. Shooting a short film in my city without having the perfect knowledge, the proper equipments and experienced actors isn't easy at all. One of my friends suggested me to participate in the short film fest supposed to be held in my city. I made the movie because I wanted to make a YouTube channel and didn't think of showcasing my work. Then I got a mail from the organizers and one of them personally appreciated my work as he liked the story. And I was invited for its award function. My father was a bit reluctant at first but my mother persuaded him so he came. The audience and my parents really liked its screening. And our team's name got announced.
This was the time when my parents discovered the profession I wanted to live with and felt that I wasn't bad in it at all.
