Undergraduate / My parents had sealed my fate - I would grow to be a Chartered Professional Accountant [2]

Firstly, is it okay to write an essay or does a statement strictly mean statement?
My parents had sealed my fate when I was only a toddler - I would grow to be a Chartered Professional Accountant. I readily accepted and cherised that thought. Surely, my parents would know the best for me. When the time for university admissions approached, I knew exactly what I wanted to do: The Accounting Specialist and economics major at the University of XXX. However, with each passing second, I find in myself a greater interest for economics and simaltenously an increasing distate for accounting. As my third semester approches to an end, I have decided that I want to pursue economics not accounting. At the same time I have come to the realisation that the University of XXX does not fulfill my academic needs due to three simple reasons. [..]
