Undergraduate / Business is something I have had a vast attachment and curiosity towards for as long as I remember [2]
Why do you wish to study in the Business Management program? What influenced your decision to apply to the program?
Business is something I have had a vast attachment and curiosity towards for as long as I can bear in mind. I suppose you can say it started one day when my dad handed me some papers to sign. "What is that?" I said looking up from the television. "Just some papers that needs your signature on them" said my father. My signature? I gave him a puzzled look, but all he did was give he one of his calm smiles like this was something he asked me to do every day. But I didn't have a signature yet, I didn't know how I was supposed to just come up with one. I was eight years old. He put the papers on my lap and left. I took a good hard look on them. As I was scanning through the pages I noticed my name was under the word "director" - that caught my interest. At that age, I had no idea what being a director meant, I just knew dad had some special dreams for me, dreams that I just then started to share as well.
As years went by my inquisitiveness and admiration towards the complexity and contradiction of a business grew further. I paid further attention to the papers dad brought back home and listened harder to his business phone calls, accompanied him to the business travels abroad, read more news and realized how much trade is intertwined with our daily lives. Slowly I became accustomed with business world, the losses and the profits, the highs and the lows. As I entered high school, I realized I had developed a specific set of skills and passion that favored me in subjects like Economics, Accounting and Business Studies rather than Physics, Chemistry and Biology, thus I started specializing in them. Thanks to my immense devotion, I had also noticed I had something that took me a step ahead of my classmates - I had actual commerce associated experiences rather than just text book knowledge, that had been favoring me all though my IGCSEs, and now IALs.
I never thought of the dreams my dad has to me as a burden - because I think of them as my own passion. Rather than considering it as an obligation, I see it as a goal. Something I have been prepping myself for all my life and will continue to do so until I have rightfully earned my title as a Director. I believe a degree in Business Management from one of the most renowned business schools in Canada -Ryerson University, would provide me the skills, knowledge and understanding to be an ideal entrepreneur, innovator and leader thus fulfill my lifelong ambition of continuing my father's legacy.
