Letters / I will be a exchange student. This is a letter that I will sent my future host family. [2]
Dear my future host family,
Ever since I was very little, I have always cherished my dream of studying abroad and discovering new things in another parts of the world. So many times did I think of one day writing a letter to you. And now my dream has almost come true. Finally, I have a chance to send you my letter. I hope it will help you to know a little bit about me- the girl who live far from you thousands of miles.
First of all, I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Nguyen Thi Thuy Vy. You can call me Vy for short. I come from Việt Nam, an S-shaped country located in the heart of southeast Asia. I'm 16 years old and currently I'm in 11th grade of Phú Mỹ high school. Let me tell you something about my hobbies, I love travelling, shopping and chatting like any other girls. I also enjoy listening to music, especially instrumental music, reading book, taking part in social activities and playing ukulele . My favorite subjects at school are English, literature and maths. If I am asked to tell briefly about my personality, I will describe it in 3 words: open-minded, energetic and optimistic.
I live in a family of 4: my parents, my elder sister and me. My dad, who I respect most, is an upright, benevolent and humorous man. Whenever I feel blue or frustrated, his jokes are always the best medicine that make I laugh my head off. At times, I find him quite strict with me but I know he does everything out of the best for me. My mom, who has greatly influenced on me, is a kind, generous and tolerant woman. she is a vegan and she loves doing charity work. Being beside my mom, I feel warm and secure than ever, I love my mom so much. My sister is a dynamic and adorable girl. Although she is 10 years older than me but she knows me very well and always gives me good advices when I'm in trouble. Not merely a sister, she's also an indispensable friend in my life.
After school, I usually help my mom with the chores, take care of the garden or visit my maternal grandparents living next door. My grandmother is a dab hand at cooking. The food she cooks is exceedingly delicious. My grandfather gives me heaps of chocolates as he knows I'm a chocoholic . That's why I never succeed in losing weight when I come to visit them too often.
After a week of hard work, going out with my friends to relax is never a bad idea . We often watch a movie, go to an ice-cream shop, go to the beach or go on a picnic. But sometimes just I want to enjoy a peaceful weekend without engaging in any noisy merriment. Staying at home reading a book, learning to play some new songs on my ukulele may sound tedious but it sometimes makes my day. I also derive pleasure from visiting the orphanage. Witnessing the heart-breaking sight of the orphans being grown up without the care and the love of their parents, I can't help feeling sorry for them. I don't know how to help them except for saving money to buy them candies, milk and give them my old clothes, old books. They are the obedient, gentle kids who always have radiant smiles on their faces. They deserve the love,the support and the sympathy from the society.
Going to the USA is always my biggest dream which I long for every day, every minute, every second. Since my birth, I have been living under my parents' love and protection. But now, I'm no longer a little child and I need to do something for my own future. I aspire to be admitted to a good university in America and I believe that one year being an exchange student over there is a stepping-stone that helps me come closer to my aspiration. Moverover, during a year, My English will gradually improve by talking with native speakers everyday, I can also learn more vocabularies, slangs, idioms and expressions that Americans use. Since America is a melting pot, it surely will provide me a golden opportunity to make new friends and get to know more about different cultures from many different countries in the world. I will challenge myself in a totally new environment I have never been to before, which helps me to become more confident, self-reliant, mature and stronger. All of these things above explain why I wish to study in America and why I look forward to it that much.
I hope that the language barrier and the cultural barrier won't preven us from coming closer. I hope we will get along well and make it a wonderful, unforgettable year. During my stay, I will help you know more about my little country and all the traditions, customs, lifestyle, culture, religion, food, unique and interesting facts,..of it . I will also introduce to you the most beautiful and famous places in Việt Nam. If you are interested in Vietnamese's music, I incline to sing for you. I will always ready to give a hand when you or the host community need.
