Undergraduate / Conflict on my experience between why Rice and why major [3]

Hi there,

I wish to apply to Rice engineering and am writing about my learning by doing style for the why Rice essay.(How did you first learn about Rice University and what motivated you to apply? 250 word limit) However, I find that if I write about the following experience for the why Rice, I don't know what to include about myself for the why major.(With the understanding that the choice of academic school you indicated is not binding, explain why you are applying to that particular school of study. 150 word limit) Any advice?

-----Following is part of my why Rice(note: very crude draft. I'm an international student so please don't laugh at my grammar:-)----

Born a rapid questioner with tons of "strange thoughts", I was not always teachers' guest and would have to lay hands on things and figure out myself: disassembling dishwashers and air conditioners to learn how they work, building bridge out of chopsticks, piling my own fossil collections. Learning through doing gradually became a habit: later I built my own model for the science fair, took internship with college students, and constructed robots with these intern experiences...

I encountered Rice through an introduction on a forum, and I was thrilled to learn about Rice Engineering's focus on students' hands on experiences. I find Rice OEDK the perfect place to not only play hands-on, but also innovate through the splendid programs, like the Hybrid Rocket Construction program, CRASH under NASA, Wiscoyol Water Project... I just can't stop loving the feeling figure out things by myself through experiments and trials, and try to make a difference out of the sparks of creativity, to think innovatively as Rice encourages.
