Gender roles. I need to shorten this Macbeth essay thesis into one sentence.

The topic for my essay is gender roles in Macbeth
This is my current thesis:
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have misconstrued view of the male and female gender roles, with Macbeth attempting to be the stereotypical man of the family and Lady Macbeth also trying to fulfil roles of the male gender. This conflict of gender roles eventually leads to their demise both as individuals and as a couple.

Please help me shorten this into one sentence. Critique is also welcome :)

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have conflicting gender roles, as Macbeth strives to be the stereotypical family man and Lady Macbeth also tries to fulfil the male role, which eventually leads to their demise both as individuals and as a couple.

I think I have a better one, if Grace doesn't mind :)

I don't understand how Macbeth's living up to the male stereotype can bring as much conflict as Lady Macbeth's going against her own gender role, so I took that part out.
