LOUIS RIEL: A Canadian Legend or a Double Crosser?

im doing an essay for history about louis riel and its hero or villian and im choosing villain and i need a good topic sentence. my teacher says to get straight to the point and tell the reader which side your picking. any feedback on how i can start? i have an outline for the essay if anyone needs it

also if it helps your can get some ideas from my headline its "Louis David Riel: A Canadian Legend or a Double Crosser?"

i started off the intro by talking about who louis is but i dont know what to put in front of it as a topic sentence

Title: Louis Riel: Hero or Traitor? lol

Louis Riel did not kill Thomas Scott. Ambroise LĂŠpine did.

Louis Riel was not a traitor. He was loyal to the Crown.

Riel was clearly insane at the time of his trial, and his execution should not have taken place.

those are just some points you have to fight against, lol.

you should use these claims and say how they are wrong in your first sentence...for example : There are many unsupportted claims about louis Riel: Louis Riel did not kill Thomas scott, Ambroise Lepine did. LIE(FALSE.)... and so on...
