(people transformed through relationships) A Thousand Splendid Suns Suggestions

Hello my name is jasmine and I have just finished a research outline for the novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns. I have a couple of questions id like to ask before i turn it in.

Our directions are to chose a question, out of four, to answer and use articles and the book for examples to explain how the question answers certain reasons that we chose etc.

My question: How are people transformed through relationships with others?
My 3 reasons are: 1) past experiences ( I used an article on drug abuse and abuse in families to talk about when I'm explaining this reason) 2) influences- whether they are good or bad and 3) values and/or beliefs that one person in the relationship has that the other does not

I am only asking if these are strong enough reasons I can use to answer my questions- if they are ok, will you help me describe and give examples for them and if they are not, will you help me come up with better reasons to answer the question?

Thank you so much! (P.S my paper is due next Monday)

How are people transformed through relationships with others? Here are my ideas:
1) They could be negatively influenced, and be weakened by the relationship
....this could be caused by a friend on drugs like in your example, or somebody who is mean to others, somebody that teaches them to steal or cheat

2) They could be positively influenced, uplifted, supported
...this could be a relationship with a family member, a mentor, a best friend

3) They could discover more about their true self through this relationship
... This could be the result of a journey where somebody introduces a hobby or subject that is the person's true calling, the person could find exactly what they want/need and how to be the best person that they are capable of being.

Your thoughts on this were very beneficial to me so thank you for helping me out! I won't steal your thoughts but I will definitely think about what you said to help out with my paper! Thanks again for giving me further examples on my reasons!

Your second and third reasons are similar, in my opinion. I like the second one more, and you can incorporate the third one into it.

Perhaps another example could be that you learn through the experiences of others--For example, if you lived in a small town your whole life and you met someone from, say, India, you'd learn a lot about other cultures. Or, if you had a friend with a disability, you'd learn about how he/she goes about life a little differently.

Or, another example could be that you learn about human nature, starting with simple things like how people who say they're fine might be actually upset. It's a skill you only develop if you're more social. Having human relationships shows you that there are some inherent patterns that make you understand everyone better. For example, adults are better at telling if someone is lying than a child, because adults have more experience in human relationships.

I'm not sure I understand your first one. Do you mean how drug abuse is more prominent in children who come from homes with a history in drug abuse? (I'm not sure if that's what you're trying to say.) If that's what you mean, it also, in my opinion, falls under influences. You could incorporate it into your influence paragraph.

Good luck on your paper!

For "past experiences" you can talk about how many people are hurt then they create a wall from people so that they wouldn't get hurt again.

Is this essay supposed to be about how people are changed negatively, or positively?
