Need some input on what to write about for personal experience essay.

I've been asked to write an essay with this prompt " Describe a personal experience that has profoundly changed your perspective on an issue of regional, national, or international significance.

My problem with pinning down an exact experience to write about is that I'm not sure what would be considered a national/international issue. My immediate idea was to write about my experience of domestic abuse as it changed the person that I am today in a significant way. Would you consider domestic abuse/violence a national issue? If not, then I need to keep searching for my topic.

you can make this essay consists of 4 paragraph:
1. Intoduction : this section consists of general information which mentions thesis statement
2. Body 1 : thesis 1 statement will be explained in this section
3. Body 2 : thesis 2 statement will be explained in this section
4. Conclusion : summary of your statement (you can creat paraphasing from introduction)

I suggest you to imagine something or some issues that you already knew and understand. Of course, you need to write your essays more specific.

I think this is very good. Your scope is much wider because it says -


... So it can be regional too. However, when you introduce this issue to the reader you need to talk about it as a more significant issue across your community, region, country etc. Try to support that aspect with statistics if you can find them. Make sure you do not narrow down the scope of the issue although you are going to talk about your personal experience.

As Pahan mentioned, you have the burden of proving this issue is of national significance through relevant data. Other topics are more easily perceived as being regionally, nationally, or internationally important (e.g. political, economic, legal, etc.).
