Scholarship / "Senior Developer" - Chevening Leadership essay question draft answer [3]
Hi All,
This is Wafaa Aly from egypt.
this is a sample answer for Chevening Leadership essay question .
can you please judge it.
I'm a Senior developer with more than 7 years' experience in the mobile and software development field. Developed prototypes, websites, stores, and mobile apps. Founder and co-founder of multiple startups. Received the Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA).
I worked in startups most of the time. During my time of my first android developer job I also joined a startup called ya-fde7to. My team and I were trying to develop an app to protect Egyptian women from sexual harassment. I funded this initiative, and developed the prototype. We won the Nile university competition. I registered to cherie blair foundation internship with this idea to help making it real. But, I had to quite the old team after being accepted in this competition. So, I got another idea which is to make a mobile app to help those who use the public transportation to find the accurate vehicles to reach their destinations, Instead of asking people. And I formulated a new team consists of my colleague and my cousin which was a student in the university. I made the business model canvas for it and made the prototype. I paid my cousin so we can make the database for that project.
And we made a facebook page to guide the people to their destinations via asking questions on this page as well. This page gets many questions and likes every single day and it got around a thousand likes without buying Ads. I got the cherie blair foundation certificate working on this project.
I also, was member of an initiative called mashroo3na bel 3kl nabd2. 'with logic we start'. To teach kids and logical concepts and good manners. And give grown ups sessions about these logical concepts. I tought kids to good manners like patience, forgiveness via telling stories.
In my work I was a senior developer also in a startup and made the main app for this startup, managed implementing the iOS version of the same app, and led a tester to maintain the quality of the app.
My challenges in this next to implement the app were like:
1.Educate a tester while I'm only a developer, and make test scenarios with her.
2.The iOS developer was a freelance one. So, we had to make the communication with him more precise.
3.Studying to earn the ECBA certificate while I'm developing my app.
4.Coordinating events for the chapter. So, I had to find places to make the events, find speakers, and making sure they can handle explaining the content.
I left this company after a year with
1.zero android bugs
2.80% of the iOS app was implemented correctly
3.A new comer designer knew the basics about android UI implementation so he can accomplish this mission on his own
4.Coordinated 3 chapter events
5.Earned my ECBA
Then I joined Vodafone international services corporate. And have done the following:
1.Developing new libraries that contain common features to be used by all Vodafone markets/teams building Vodafone apps.
2.Provided immediate support for other Vodafone markets that are using the developed libraries.
3.Led a team of 4 fresh graduates to support other markets.
