Scholarship / Diet / Nutrition - practical examples of how you intend to use the knowledge, skills you will gain [3]
a)First, this training can further my research on the area of diet and diseases which is crucial is combating lifestyle related diseases in Fiji. Second, this training can also sharpen my skills on leadership, critical and creative thinking and problem solving. This will in turn help me to inspire and motivate the rest of the Dieticians and other healthcare workers in Fiji on how to better address nutrition challenges they face in their own fields.
(b)Understanding and applying nutrition knowledge and skills to all aspects of health care are extremely important, and all health care professions need basic training to effectively assess dietary intake and provide appropriate guidance, counselling, and treatment to their patients. With obesity rates at an all-time high and the increasing prevalence of diabetes projected to cost the Fiji government billions of dollars, the need for inter-professional nutrition education is paramount. In addition, while providing consultation on improving food choices for the people of Fiji, economic constraints may contribute to the unhealthy food choices
