Letters / KU Leuven 2024 Bachelor of Philosophy Mot. Letter. [3]

Greetings, Here is a Draft, which for now lacks of conclusion, of my Letter of Motivation for KU Leuven. It's open to any thoughts how you see this letter to be better.

Dear G. Van Riel, J. Jansen, S. Symons, and the Admission Committee, I am writing to you to declare my fully rational decision to take a chance in becoming a student at the Institute of Philosophy, as well as to convey wholeheartedwillingness to flourish intellectually as a small part of such a grand research - focused international community as Catholic University of Leuven.

Being at the final year of obtaining 4-years Bachelors Degree program (thus already possessing some crucial for university skills), I have participated various discussions both with people of intra-academical and outer-academical focus. Each time, whether attending a University Lecture or being engaged in other intellectual activity, no matter what subject, I was curious in demarcating "solid" reasonings from "incoherent" theories.

At the same time, it was especially interesting what kindof axiomaticbasis these theories had; why people find them to be valid; and what grounding we can denominate to be "consistent". However, short time had passed when arose the realisation that for pointing to the fallacies in any discourse and speculation, We have to not only feel, but to know that our own reasoning is standing firmly - in a form of Archimedes's fulcrum - and is absent with inconsistencies and contradictions.

The inquiry of intellectual "fulcrum" led me to Philosophy, that one thread, which can link numerous domains of human knowledge, and expose these dominions to thorough examination. Thus, without quitting my University Program, because of the aspiration to acquire knowledge, I began my Philosophical self-education with the help of open sources.

My reading and listening skills allowed me to absorb information of English-oriented origins such as: Lectures on History of Philosophy provided by Wheaton College under the Lectureship of Arthur Holmes; freelecture-like conversations recorded by Bryan Magee with the participation of other eminent Philosophers; diverse number of interviews; Textbooks on History of Philosophy; Private philosophical investigations by various renowned Thinkers starting with several lines written (apparently) by Thales and extending to the volumeness works of Modern Scholars; and others.

The fact that Language is a prevalent way of interpreting human knowledge made my attention to be directed to Logic. It was fascinating that Philosophy, as an activity, does interrogate not only our thoughts (their content, validity, etc.), but in addition, the logical apparatus, with which we make the transmission of what we think to our fellow-men. Hence, after a prolonged study of First - Order Logic, I gave a Lecture at my University, solely by my personal initiative, on the basics of Logic - both Propositional and Quantificational.

Secondly, my inquiry had fruited with determination that the related to Philosophy knowledge, which I had acquired on my own, needed to be systematized and enriched under the qualified supervision. Not only I decided to gain education in this field, but also to utilize this experience in a form of research. The latter may refine our philosophical, as well as general, investigation of inner and outer phenomena, amidst we find ourselves.

The seek for the Institution, who can provide both detailed preparation in the aforementioned field, brought me to the best place possible for my current state of affairs- KU Lueven. Located in the "brains" of Belgium, Catholic University of Leuven happened to situate at the intersection of British Analytical and Empirical traditions, German Idealistic view, French passion to any knowledge, and The Netherlands, which was the asylum for many great philosopher and smiths of independent ideas.

So, passion for Philosophy training began to blossom after the realization that I may participate in the continuing study on the professional level inside the walls of the University of Leuven, afterwards conducting a research projects under the guidanceof Centre for Logic and Philosophy of Science side by side with other students, professors, and Centres.

Conclusion

The coloured regions are seen to be paraphrased or deleted at all.
What do you think it lacks by now?
What would you add?
Best Regards!

@Holt
Greetings, Halt.
The fact that you said that this text was made with the help of an AI tool shocked and touched me deeply. You can believe it or not, but I DID NOT USE any artificial intelligence engine to assist me in creating this particular document.

Can you be more specific with your critique and point out what particularly you didn'y like? What fatal flaw does it contain?
Another time I declare: MY text was written solely by ME without anyone's help.
Kind regards,
Arseny
