In 2019, as an Operations Associate at XXX Company, I led the Green Initiatives Project. This project aimed to support the implementation of a plastic packaging ban in AAA City. The goal of this project is to reduce plastic usage at XXX's store partners and provide customers with eco-friendly packaging and delivery options. This project required me to influence more than 1,000 shoppers & drivers and 3,500 XXX's daily customers.
I led a team of associates, analysts, and officers in deploying this project. Firstly I analyzed the current process and identified the improvement points. Based on the findings, I developed new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as the guidelines for implementing this project. The operational team was concerned that the new SOPs would significantly change the team's work practices. Thus I clearly explained the reasons for this implementation and what we aimed to achieve. In return, I succeeded in influencing them to support the implementation of these operational changes. I also partnered with the Social Media and Customer Service Team to raise green initiatives awareness and gather constructive feedback from customers.
As a result, this project decreased packaging costs by 45% Month-on-Month. 40% of customers were willing to spend more by choosing the eco-friendly packaging option, and the rest opted for the no-packaging delivery option.
As a Product Operations at YYY Company, I led the Fishermen Registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) project. The focus of the project is to improve fishermen's registration process by utilizing digital-based solutions. It is a project that aims not only to feed our fishermen's database with more accurate data but also to ensure that YYY provides the fishermen with the correct support to achieve sustainable coastal living.
Firstly, I mapped the existing registration process by speaking with related stakeholders at the head office. Subsequently, I identified improvement points and business requirements which will be the key points of process and product development. To further examine my findings, I traveled to BBB Village in CCC City, DDD Province to discuss directly with the YYY's fishermen and Community Development representative. This trip enabled me to validate that the proposed solution would solve the prioritized pain points. I also prepared the new SOPs and collaborated with the Product Owner, Tech Development, and Data team to enhance the digital registration tools.
As a result, I accelerated the data management process for more than 40,000 fishermen across Indonesia which was crucial in providing YYY with valuable insights. It enabled YYY to assist the Fishermen with a more accessible social security program and affordable fishing gear to help them improve their productivity.
Considering my experiences, I learned that business leadership is not only about achieving company goals or generating revenue. It is also an opportunity to give impact and advocate greater purposes. It has inspired me to be a leader who can harmonize business goals with a sustainability aspect which brings a positive contribution to society and the environment.
