Scholarship / Inspiring, reliable and ambitious - Chevening leadership [5]
Inspiring, reliable and ambitious, that is one of the ways I would describe a leader.
When I was six years old, I started participating in all different kinds of activities and competitions, like poetry recitation, theatre, school broadcasting and so.
when I was 13, I discussed forming a poetry recitation teaching club with my principle and teachers, as first, I was the only student who could recite poetry and interested in it, but then there were many interested students after seeing me participating in events and national competitions, but they didn't know how to do it and were confused on where and how to start.
So, I founded the club and stayed 2 years then I moved to high school. when I went back to greet my old teachers, they told me that two of the girls, who were in the club, won a national competition and I could not be happier to hear that.
In my college, I also won the first prize in poetry recitation university-wide and it was the first time in my faculty to ever win first place in poetry recitation.
Currently in my work, whenever there is a medical event, the doctor, who I am working with, chooses me as the representative of his own pharmacy as he sees me as a good public speaker.
I always believe that a major aspect of influencing people, is with your actions rather than only with your words. Let your actions speak louder than your words, for example, rather than preaching people about not giving up, show them that you are not a quitter yourself. Rather than preaching others about not being afraid to participate in new things and express their ideas, show them how you are expressing your ideas and how ambitious you are.
Being passionate, humble and willing to pursue your goals is contagious and has an undeniable influence on people around you.
I also was assigned the leader of the most groups I was in, whether the sports team or the activities group, as I have always been a calm and motivating person, especially when things get rough or nerve-wrecking.
Truthfully, I intend to inspire and encourage other people from my country to apply for the Chevening scholarship, as I got inspired by others like, Amal Abo El Magd and Ahmed Nageeb, who are Egyptians that got accepted into the Chevening Award in the past years. I could not express how proud I was, when I knew about them, so I intend to do the same and even more if I could. In matter of fact, I already encouraged two of my friends to apply for the Chevening award.
