The diagram indicates modifications to the layout of a library in 20 years' time.
Overall, the library experienced significant changes including technology renovation and the addition of customer-facing facilities.
As can be seen from the diagram, as one entered the library 20 years ago, there was a reading room offering access to newspapers and magazines on the left-hand side. However, it has now been removed to make room for a computer room. The enquiry desk on the right where people bought tickets and returned books has been replaced by a cafe.
Furthermore, the adult fiction books area has been relocated to the right side to make way for reference ones. The place for adult non-fiction books has been eliminated for the appearance of their adult fiction counterparts alongside the installation of self-service machines. At the centre of the library, all tables and chairs have been cleared for more space.
In addition, the room accommodating CDs, videos and computer games on the left-hand corner has been widened and converted to place for children's fiction books and storytelling events. At the right corner lay a lecture room which used to hold children's books.
