Influential Person
During my life I have met thousands of people in my rather short seventeen years of existence. Some of these people I am really glad I met while others I could care less that I was even in their presence; while time flies by and friends come and go, everyone has had an effect on whom I am as a person whether it was good or bad. Everything that has happened has influenced me in a way to shape me to the way I am today. Furthermore, the most influential person that has affected my life and shaped me more than any other person would have to be my dad.
Ever since I was a young boy, I was given the opportunity to make my own decisions, and my dad was open to anything I wanted to do. Even if he did not like the idea very much he would always support me in my decisions as much as any other thing I would do. An example of this was when I was five I wanted to join the Indian Guides to improve my social status in the world. My dad never participating in this before went all out in my decision to do this by bringing me to every one of my meetings. He would even help out at some of these meetings; even though, I now know it was not one of his favorite things to do.
Soon after this phase, my dad began to take me fishing, and this was a great opportunity to get to know my dad on an even better level. While sometimes my dad would have to pull me out of school to go on fishing trips, which I did not like, I soon realized how lucky I was to get to spend some extra time with my dad because of our busy schedules. Even better was the fact that we got to do something that we still enjoy doing to this day. The best times of the year are when I get to have the enjoyment of going on a fishing trip with my dad knowing that, even with all the bad things happening in the world today, I get to spend time with him where we can talk about anything and everything. I will never want to take back any of those treasurable moments.
Even today, my dad is still in my life helping me get through all the difficulties that senior year poses on me. While my dad never graduated from college he wants me to pursue my dreams of graduating. With all the papers due in class and applications to be filled out, he is always there being a positive influence and reminding me of deadlines. Even when I do not want to think about another paper that I have to write whether it is for English, math, or an application, my dad is always there by my side, guiding me along, and helping me become the best that I can be.
As a result, many people have shaped me to who I am today. While there have been both positive and negative influences in my life, the person that has helped and influenced me the most would be my dad. With both of our schedules conflicting in more recent years the opportunity to be able to spend time together has been limited, but when we get the chance to just hangout doing something we both enjoy. I take in all the surroundings knowing that he is doing the best that he can for me. This is shaping me into the young man that I have become, and for that I am very grateful for my dad.
