Writing Feedback / Success can lead people into danger by changing a person's personality [2]

Essay: Can Success be disastrous?

Thanks for helping me out. Please be honest with me, I need serious help. Thanks

In life, everyone sets his or her own personal targets and if one day these objectives might be achieved, then this would be defined as success. Success is a beautiful feeling that comes after hard work and sacrifice but could it perhaps be disastrous? Success can lead people into danger by changing a person's personality and making one do something that is out of character.

Many a time people give up so much of their time and even their money just to accomplish their objective because they believe that if they are successful then it would make their life more exciting, and more meaningful. However this isn't always the case for athletes, businessmen and politicians who tend to become even thirstier for greater feats even after they have achieved their main goal. Diego Armanda Maradona was one who won the Football World Cup in 1986 only to become banned from football later on in his life due to drug abuse. Despite his empathic achievements, he wasn't satisfied and due to his advancing years he had to keep up with the enduring game by aiding his cause with performance enhancers.

Success could also lead someone to relax and forget about one's principles because that feeling of satisfaction, that success brings, was too big for one to handle. Irish football player, George Best, had won all that there was to win at the modest age of just 22. From this point on Best started to spend more time in pubs rather than on the training pitch, keeping fit. He was forced to retire at a relatively young age due to liver problems that came about with his drinking habits. Best had a tragic ending to his life when he did because of liver failure in his early 50's. He probably felt that he had achieved it all and wasn't able to look for other possible objectives to keep him going.

Businessmen also find that success could bring about greed, by them not being satisfied of their achievements, but they'd rather move on to bigger things, possibly even bend the rules and lose self dignity, but if that will reward them with more and greater success, then so be it.

One must realise that success is vital for living a meaningful life and one must always seek to achieve what one is able to do, but one must do so by maintaining dignity, one's principles and realising what is really important in life. Success doesn't necessarily come in the form of power or money but it could also be expressed in good deeds towards society.
