(How does the major you would like to study in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning match your intellectual, academic, and career interests? Discuss any activities you have engaged in that are relevant to your chosen major.)
Throughout his life, a person needs a house. Animals and birds are also in need of housing. When the time comes for offspring for birds, they start building their nests, animals build burrows and dens. Quality of housing does not only affects the security of life but also on how the offspring will develop. Human being is always in need of architecture and depend on it; neither always aware of it.
Meeting the different needs of people, architecture differentiates. Almost all the buildings do not resemble each other. Every architect; his inner world, the beauty of his inner world transfers into his building and that's why architecture differentiate. Adrian Smith, the design architect of the "Burj Khalifa" tower, has said that he was inspired by the flower Hymenocallis and that's the reason for the triple lobed footprint of the building. Architecture gives the possibility of creative ability to deliver.
Every architect wants to create the most comfortable accommodation and to plan social convenient city, taking into consideration all the social needs of a man. I like to get acquainted with new areas, to look at ideas that are introduced in this region by an architect and analyze how comfortable it is for living or working people.
Dubai is a young city, it is only 30 years old, but very ambitious. It has very beautiful buildings, with a variety of shapes and styles. American architect, Adrian Smith has designed and managed the construction site of the tallest building in the world. The Height of a building is 828 meters, which includes 162 floors. In view of that Smith with engineers developed a new structural system called the buttressed core, which consists of a hexagonal core, reinforced by three buttresses that form the 'Y' shape, to support the unprecedented height of the building. This structural system enables the building to sustain itself laterally and keeps it from twisting. Also for "Burj Khalifa" was developed a special concrete and it was essential. It was difficult to create a concrete that could withstand both the thousands of tones bearing down on it and Persian Gulf temperatures that can reach 50 °C. To solve this problem, the concrete was not poured during the day. Instead, during the summer months ice was added to the mixture and it was poured at night when the air is cooler and the humidity is higher. A cooler concrete mixture cures evenly throughout and is therefore less likely to set too quickly and crack. Any significant cracks could have put the entire project in jeopardy.
Career for the modern woman is very important. It's summarizes person's abilities, his capabilities, goal aspiration, and maturity of personality. I would like to build my own city. For this I need to explore in depth and continually improve in the profession of an architect. For me very important to become a highly professional expert, to learn my subject in depth and only then can I reach my goals.
By the Layout of buildings I was fascinated at the age of 7, when I took my brother's game "the Sims". In practice, I learned what is redevelopment of the housing, when we did repair in ours Moscow's apartment. We have taken down all the walls and made a new apartment. Further experience in the planning of the building I got in mom's business; when we had only one large room and had to do in it boutique, warehouse, office, and a room for staff.
I believe that Cornell University will help me earn a good knowledge. I know that this University has a very good program in the specialty of architecture. Interesting and informative practice in different countries will give me opportunity to study the layout and construction of buildings of different cultures.
I am sure that I will justify the hopes of the University.
