Undergraduate / 'the nation's most renowned medical institution' - UF [3]
Your essay is a very important part of your application. What you provide helps the university know you as an individual -- independent of grades, test scores and other objective data.
Please submit a 400-500 word essay. It is strongly recommended that you compose the essay in a word processor and then paste it into the text box or you can type directly in the text box. When you are finished save your work.
Essay section must be submitted online, documents mailed separately will not be evaluated.
You should keep your formatting as simple as possible and avoid using any special formatting; attributes such as bold, italics, underlining and quotation marks can be lost when placed into the textbox.
In the space provided, please write a concise narrative in which you describe a meaningful event, experience or accomplishment in your life and how it will affect your college experience or your contribution to the UF campus community. You may want to reflect on your ideas about student responsibility, academic integrity, campus citizenship or a call to service.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, but I knew it was horrible from the moment I felt this ridiculous compulsive urge in my head that something was terribly wrong. My family, friends, and brother all disgusted in my inability to cope with mental alarms ringing in my head telling me every time somebody touched my head or pointed feet at me, "get them back, or something bad will happen." The humiliating feeling I had of family crowding around asking what was wrong with me, saying I need a doctor, was unimaginable. The feeling was indescribable, it was as if my life were at stake, I would rip through anyone in my way just to be able to get the person back, even if it was a simple tap on the head. Over time I have somewhat learned how to deal with these urges, but what has come out of it? An insatiable interest in the human brain, and how it works.
I have been interested in the human brain for as long as I can remember. I even began trying to diagnose myself, convincing myself of having some sort or obsessive compulsive disorder, even though no professional help was sought. This interest eventually evolved when I was asked what I wanted to major in, in middle school. Neurology seemed almost like a perfect fit, but upon researching that profession I later realized all of the hard work and effort that had to be put into that career. That was the exact moment when things started to materialize in my head and a choice was to be made. I would then decide to proceed with the decision to want to be a neurologist, and dedicate myself to do what it takes to achieve my goal. My decision was a quick one, although a seemingly hard one, but I knew I had what it takes to be the best at what I would soon aspire to be.
The fact that University of Florida has been reputed to have the nation's most renowned medical institution is what drew me to strive towards getting accepted. Since age 13, my future would be foreshadowed by my motivation, outstanding academic achievements, and essentially my determination to get into the University of Florida. My career choice is a long and arduous effort, but I know I need to do it right, starting with the school I go to. Most kids see what college they "end up with," but I like to think I am unique and chose my own destiny. My motivation, determination, and extremism for the career I have selected are what I have to contribute to the campus of the University of Florida, and those qualities will guarantee that I give it my all, 100% every time.
