"I have a dream..."
Most of us can recognize those immortal words, spoken by Martin Luther King. Even in this day and age, those same words hold true; more so to students like me. I too dream and I believe that the beginning of all things that are destined for greatness take shape with a humble but omnipotent dream. I dream of a world with no boundaries - a world that shares its wealth, knowledge and ideals, a world with one people. I do not live in my dreams but live my dreams. It was the broader vision of success beckoning me as an Engineer that brought me to the shores of Pune, a city 1000 miles away from the comforts of home and the familiar smells of my mother's cooking and her unbounded love. The dream: to be an engineer par excellence and bring the world close together.
At the time when most of my fellow townspeople were exploring the boundaries of our village, I was seeking admission into Pune's premier institute for Computer Engineering - @@@@@@@@@@@ Institute of Technology. My admission was largely brought about due to the score of @@ % I secured in the HSC examinations. I was hungry to find an outlet to fulfill my aspirations of becoming a renowned player in the computer science circuit and explored the curriculum with the gusto of a starving human. Resultantly, I ended up being the overall topper of the class in the first year.
Since my childhood days I have been attracted to computers, I find them to be one of the greatest inventions by mankind. When I was 12 years old, I saw one of my older cousins` develop a 'C' program to build a calculator and I was impressed by how easily he performed assiduous mathematics calculation like solving a Matrix Multiplication or Finding the Sin, Cos, Log etc for any given value. Since we could not afford a computer, I developed a routine to go to my cousin's house before school, to learn the basics of the wonderful machine. Even when temperatures were extreme in summer or in winter, I travelled to my cousin's house, which was about 7 miles from my home on my bicycle, which was solely due to my passion for this subject.
When I developed my first program, I did not have any idea about the technicalities but because of my love for computer programming, I never gave up. Over the period of time that I have attended @@ College of Engineering, I have developed an unabashed love for Gaming and I aspire to become a good Game Developer some day. Computer Graphics hence fascinated me and I loved developing programs for this subject of my coursework. I studied diligently and tried to discern as much as possible and hence I am consistently being ranked among the top students of the Computer Engineering Department of my college
'Computer Networks' is another subject that found my attention, and to satisfy my curiosity, I worked on an International assignment. I was part of the team that built a portal (dentistbook.com) for dentists in United States. This portal was meant to be a comprehensive dentist book directory, which will allow a user to rate, locate and search a dentist in his area. I further chose networking as the core domain of my Final Year Engineering Project titled "Flight Tracking System for mobile systems". The project focuses on building a Dynamic application, which takes all the data from various servers or a Cloud, add and analyze the data using suitable algorithms, produce XML reports and hence, provide the data in suitable form displayed in the GUI of the phone display. I am enjoying the challenge of understanding the role of various components when gelled together and then building software to interface with the hardware involved.
I have been active in various co curricular events. I have been an active member of the 'National Cadet Corps' (NCC) during my school days. I was in the Air wing of the same organization and won the highly coveted 'A' certificate. I have been socially active and had participated in various social campaigns organized by the NCC, ranging from teaching poor kids to providing security to celebrities and common public during a social event. Apart from social activities, academically I have been a pertinent and contributing member to 'The English club' and 'The Math club' of our college which helps freshers to understand the adaption they have to undergo when they enter college after school, in terms of academia.
I have helped and organized various events in my college held by these clubs or otherwise. I headed the 'Presentazione' event which is a national level paper presentation competition held under 'Excelsior 2k11', a national level technical event of my undergrad college, which I was able to bag only due to my exceptional leadership skills. My presentation skills won recognition when I presented a paper on 'Wireless LAN security' at 'Credenz'11' a National Level Paper Presentation event held by the IEEE. Due to my passion for computers I have attended various workshops on different domains to explore its immensity. The latest in this being, a workshop on 'Android app development' held at IIT-B, as this will give me useful insights for my project work too. I have also participated in various debate, coding and essay writing competitions during my school and college life and have won certificates for the same.
Thus, my experiences during the undergraduate program while equipping me with a broad understanding in Computer Science have also pointed at the requirement of an advanced learning in the area of my specialization. A graduate program in computer science is a conscious choice in this direction. I believe that my diverse capabilities would make me eligible for this program. The US being the world leader in computer technology would provide me with the best infrastructure and know-how available anywhere. And the @@@@@@@@@ University is recognized for its amazing curriculum in the field of Computer Science. I look forward to attending classroom sessions of Dr. @@@@@@@@@, who is a leading light in the field of @@@@@@@@@@.
Also, the flexibility of the curriculum will provide me with a broad-based education, which will widen the scope of my knowledge and skills and enable me to handle any challenges, which would come before me as a professional. I look forward to being an active and contributing member of the student community in your University and work as hard as I always have. I look forward to being an alumnus of the @@@@@@@ University and start my professional life with the advantage of an MS from the @@@@@@@@@ University.
