Undergraduate / Why Columbia Essay. Only 200 words. "My dream" [3]
I have always dreamed of a home where individuals of completely different circumstances could study together, and eventually learn from each other. I yearned for an archive, where knowledge was so infinite and boundless that my ever-growing curiosity would be satisfied. I wished for a haven where my interpretations of philosophy or politics could be understood and critiqued, not with malice, but with scholarly interest. I desired an opportunity to gain insights from those whose wisdom far exceeded my own. I needed a University who was well versed in my study of interest, through years of study and practice. With 150 countries represented by both faculty and staff, one of the top ten academic library systems in America, a varied curriculum, and a vast array of Nobel laureates, I know Columbia is the dream I have been searching for. Knowing Columbia's Psychology Program dates back to 1890 and that undergraduates often participate in faculty research, I am certain that Columbia would offer me an education where I can emerge myself in first-hand opportunities as well as absorb material from previously researched data. Columbia carries a vast array of both knowledge and people, and I am ready to step forward and become a part of the community that envelopes my dreams.
Sorry for the grammar problems if there are any.
Is this too impersonal or generic?? I hope not.
