LETTER OF INTENT
Date 7th Feb 2012
Parsons AAS Programs
Office of Admission
72 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10011
To Whom it May Concern
I am writing this letter of intent to express my interest and reasons of applying for Parsons AAS program in Fashion design. After graduating from university at the end of 2011 I realized that fashion design has always been my true passion. Even through interior design course I always had a thought of doing fashion design, however I did not want to complete another bachelor degree all over again. When I learnt about this AAS program online I immediately felt in love with it and knowing this program will be the best path for me if choose to have a career in fashion industry.
I strongly believe this program will provide me a second chance to finally be doing something that I am truly passionate with. Reading through the course description I was amazed on how thoroughly the course is structured. Even in such a short amount time, this course still provides students with fundamental skills from the basic to advanced level that will unquestionable prepare them for a career in fashion industry.
Over the past four years, I have been studying bachelor of interior design in Queensland University of Technology. Through out the course I have participated in student organization and contribute in various team work projects. I believe my background in interior design will assist me through this AAS program, as I am certain that design language and philosophy can be correlated regardless of its department.
Not only I am excited about this AAS Program but also the location of this school, New York City. The city that is known for it cultural diversity, energy and prestigious art culture to the rest of the world. I have always dreamed about living in New York City and experience a life of a New Yorker.
While writing this letter, I kept asking myself whats are the events and ideas that led me to apply for fashion design AAS program at Parsons. What I have come to conclusion is that there is no certain events that led me to this decision but rather strong passion for fashion that has accumulated through my life, and knowing that this is the right time for me to pursue my dream and not leave regrets.
I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Australia when I was 11 years old, I know how intimidating moving to a new country feels, leaving your friends, home and family. Now I am prepared to repeat it over again because I am determined to follow my passion and take a risk that I have owned myself for a long time.
Based upon my knowledge of your program, I believe I would be an excellent fit. I am a hard worker with great time management skills, have experience in design, and demonstrate passion for design studies. If given the opportunity, I will work hard to contribute to Parsons School of Design. Please review my design portfolio that I have sent via mail. I look forward to your reply. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
David Lee
