Undergraduate / CommonApp Short Answer (Yearbook) [6]
Prompt: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences. (150 words or fewer)
As the chair of the school's yearbook committee, I had to worry about whether we would be able to produce the final yearbook in four months, without the school's publication manager. My role as the chair was to set meetings and deadlines, assign roles to various members, bring the best out of every member, listen to everybody's ideas, make members feel as if they are part of the team, and track the committee's overall progress.
This activity was an inspiration to me. Everybody had their strengths and weaknesses and so I assigned roles to members that suited their strengths. Moreover, although I was often warned about chasing teachers for their articles, I never knew that it would be such a prominent issue during the production.
After all the hard work with the 12 members of the committee, we were rewarded with "one of the best yearbooks in school history".
