Writing Feedback / Magic Lu Chen - essay help [5]

Magic, many people will think about Harry Potter; but they will say this is movie and it's fake. But when I heard of this word, I will think of Lu Chen. Every week, there is a guy stand on stage waving his hands and saying: "It's the magical moment!" then the clause is everywhere. He perfumes magic and no one stops screaming. He is Lu Chen who also a magician. Maybe not much Americans know about him. But still, how can he affect me? He is a perfumer and I am a student. But his manner and words affect me in many ways.

I still remember first time I saw him on TV he was perfuming his magic too. He looks different from everyone around him. It's not just because he is a perfumer, also his characteristics. The actions he takes are neat and easy to understand. The way he speaks makes the show more interesting and everyone will fall in the world he creates at that moment. He is not doing tricks, but magic. After this time, I started to learn magic and study more about him.

Most people think magic are use for shows and girls. But Lu Chen doesn't agree to that. He always said magic is a tool for people to walk out of their own world and increase their confidence. It's like a window which let people to find a way to communicate with others. During my freshman year, I am kind of autistic person but not really. I scare to communicate with people because I don't really know English when I first came here.

I always saw his show and he perfumed each magic calmly and relax. It seems like he never learn or practice to do any of them. But he has born with it. I think I can do magic too. But magic sounds easy but it's hard to perfume. I always fail to perfume magic which is lack of practice. I think this is easy after I knew the secret and just practice few times. But this will not work; it will only make the show become tutorial. Every time I felt sad, I always remember Lu Chen said: "It take one minute on the stage but ten years of practice." I realize there is nothing can do without practice. Success doesn't take one day. Even though he perfume the magic easily, but how many times had he practice behind the stage? He always told people to practice, not only three or four times. It's hundred and thousand times. There is no other way through success but only practice.

Lu Chen, the only Taiwanese magician who won the world championship. He had gone through many difficult time of practicing all kinds of routines. Even thought he is a very famous internationally, but he still practice any basic moves during his life. Every time I saw his show on TV, I was so amazed by his magical power but most is his working process behind the stage. He taught me so many things by words that he said. The most important thing I also know is anything in this world has to go through practice or efforts. There is no such easy way to get to success, but only practice.

Undergraduate / "Rome did not finish building in one day." - admission essay help [NEW]

this is the topic: Choose an issue of importance to you-the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope-and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.

my essay

"Rome did not finish building in one day." Success will not come to you if you just sit there and doing nothing. The amount you pay is equivalent to the amount you receive. This is the rule in the world. No matter where you are, who you are, or when you are, this is the only true rule in universe. If you have put enough effort in something, then you should receive the same amount of gift. But if you didn't, you will not get anything you want. It's like work, if you work certain hours and you will get pay the hours you work. So the hours you don't work , then you will not get pay.

I love to play badminton that it feels like part of my life. On the court, we always defeat everyone who comes up to challenge us. Unfortunately one day a huge guy from Taiwan comes with his friend to Recreation Center. He started to practice with his friends. I can felt the pressure from him. He comes up to us for a match. We accepted it with fears. We throw the ball up in the air and it points to them. In badminton this is how to determine who will serve first. My father taps on my shoulder and told me to get on my nervousness. although I nodded but not in my heart. He serves it to me and I hit it really back and high. I run back to the court and stay there and wait. But the guy jumps real high and smashes it towards me. I wasn't prepared for it and lost a point. My father shouts out:"Li, this is a real game, not a game for kids. If we didn't take it seriously enough, we will be the losers!" After this, I am more scared than ever which cause me to lose more points. The ball hits the ground in front of me and my dad blames on me more and more. By the end of the game, the score is 15 to 4. I felt depress by defeated by them. After this game, I still played few more games. And I lost all of them.

I got called up by my father after all those games that we lost. He seems seriously than ever. He holds the racket and said: "Did you felt scare? If you don't then you should not play badminton anymore. Although you have fear but you should face it and defeat it. Everyone will have their own wall to breaks through. What if Einstein just gave up on his first try on light bulb? He will never invent the light bulb. He did practice and practice which allow him to builds enough confidence to break through. So are you. You should practice more and more to build up your confidence. And let's beat them on next time!" I nodded with tears coming out of my eye.

After that day, I practice badminton day after day. I will think of what my father told me about when I encounter a move that's can't be done: "practice and practice is the only way to success." I will keep trying the move and burn it down into my brain. Few weeks later, I saw the Taiwan guy. He still looks strong but I have confidence to win. I asked him for a rematch proudly. My father smiles at me and I do believe in it. Even though this is the second time he serves to me. But I take it easily and hit to a wide open spot. I score a point that's the most important point in my life. My father didn't blame me this time. He said nothing and just rise up his hand with a thumb up. After ten minutes of silence, I yell out: "Yes! We make it!" The ball just lands on the line and it was on their side. We won the game, I hi five with my father. He said: "nice confidence, let's get it going." I just feel so good because my harsh father said something good to me on the court.

I am still playing badminton with my father now. He told me confidence is the most important thing when you playing a game. Because it requires fast reaction and motion. If you were not confidence enough, then you will act slow. And this will apply to anything in my life. Everything needs confidence to achieve it. And practice is the only way to get confidence. There is no sneaky way through success. The same amount of effort will give you the same amount of success.

Undergraduate / my admission essay ("Landscape painting") [4]

Landscape painting depicts scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests. Sky is almost always included in the view, and weather usually is an element of the composition. Especially chinese landscape painting which is black and white most the time for mountains. It's really different from western painting.

I have been drawing chinese landscape painting since four years old. Mountains, flowers, birds, and trees are the things I can draw without a look. But I never draw a western painting. After I came to U.S., I did still practice chinese landscape painting. However, everytime I saw my friends are drawing western painting which I do not know how to draw that I will feel very impressive. After I have learn the western painting, I found out it's hard to paint with the colors. I have never been laying every color on top of each other. But after I have finished my first painting, I took a look at it. Even it looks not really great, but it seems like my works does pay off. The colors of each item are like many of cute dancers dancing on the paper. They have create the life of the painting.

Even though the methods of two painting are totally different, but I have learn them during my eighteen years life. It help me to understand the cultures of two different countries. Every picture I draw is about each country's views. Painting is part of my life which I enjoyed it too.
