What do you think the content of my personal statement? do not check grammar I have to check that only the content thanks
What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field - such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities - and what you have gained from your involvement.
The Mysteries of Computers: How Fascinating It Can Be
Trying and discovering something new, it is very fascinating for me especially in my favorite's science subjects at school: Math, Physics, or
Biology. But I felt more attracted into something more which it was technology, about the science of computers. On how computer can help human beings in their everyday activities such as creating documents and it is very impressive how they can develop these advanced tasks maintaining a good relation between the logical part and the physical part. As a result I chose to merge in the studies of Computer Science and Engineering.
Since I was seven years old, I have been very fascinated into computers. I remembered my parents were going to buy a new computer, and I was very excited -my first computer. However, my parents told me that first I had to take an introduction class of basic computers; it was an introduction on how to use Windows 98. Yet it was very simple class, it help to get a strong interest on computers. Finishing the course my parents, finally, bought me the new computer. Even though internet it was not common at that time, I used to play a lot of video games on that computer. Sometimes I got bored, so I decided to make a deep exploration into the operating system such as changing some configurations on the system. It was very basic, but for my age it was surprising. I remembered my mother used to buy me some basic computers books for the editorial of the newspaper every week such as how to use Microsoft Word. Most of my computational experiments almost ruin my computer; however, during these years, I learnt how to fix these problems.
I remembered I was so curious making experiments in Windows and also installing unusual pirate software to the system. As a result, my computer often visited the computer technician to make some repairs, clean, or restart my system. I remembered picking up my computer from being fixed. The technician told me I should buy extra memory RAM which is to increase the run-time velocity to the computer, and it is very easy to install it. I bought the memory RAM, and with my friend, we decided to install it. We were not prepared; it was our first time opening the computer. We did not even have a screw driver, so we opened with a knife. At the end, the installation was successful; nonetheless, until we turned on the PC; the computer crashed. We had to take it back to my technician who was my friend now because of the often visits. This experience helped me to increase my interest on computers, so I decide to enter to an intensive course of one month and a half of maintenance and building of computers. With this course, I able to fix some basic problems on computers such as formatting the operating system or eliminating junk files. I did some jobs fixing computers; it was individual only for helping and gain some experience on computers. I always was willing to help on computers, documents, or even math problems. Then after years I got very interested mostly in the logical part the software.
After a while I decided to learn some computer applications. I took Flash Adobe which I did not like it. With that class, I realized that I am interested on how computers work and develop advanced tasks not in the entertainment part such as edition of videos or Photoshop. I tried to teach by myself some programming: Visual Basic and Java However, I was not successful on teaching myself; as a result, I decide to wait until college to learn these classes. Moreover, after restating Windows a lot times due to the fact of viruses infected my computer and the slow reaction of the system. I decide to change the operating system. At that time I was reading about Linux and free software policies. Therefore, I decided to switch to another operating system. I installed a Linux distribution called Ubuntu. It was very different from Windows; it was a new experience. During that time, I was at my last year of high school, and for my English class we have to write an eight essay paper and expose with PowerPoint something that I liked. I was so excited about Linux and free software that I decided to do my English assignment about the experience on Linux. My school gave diplomas for the best dissertation, and luckily I won for the knowledge in my subject;
After I finished high school three months later, I decided to move to the United States with my uncles. I entered to a community college, and the first class I wanted to take it was programming. At the first time, I was nervous because English is not my native language. In addition, I read on Internet that programming it can be a little hard despite of the fact I decided to take class which I enjoyed. As a result, I wanted to get more into my major.
Many experiences happened to me with computers and technology which I am proud of it because I learnt a lot. Since I was a child, I developed a big interest on computers. I loved how they improve our lives helping us in some of our routines. Therefore, I want to get my Computer Science and Engineering degree to develop and improve technology focusing on bringing the best technology to people.
