Undergraduate / Common App transfer to Binghamton: Research Assistant [NEW]
I'm applying as a transfer student Spring 2013, and I'm hoping anyone could revise my short essay! Any advices are acceptable, grammars, content, or any feedbacks! Thank you!
Summer of my freshmen year I decided to do something meaningful that is worthy of my time. Volunteering as an assistant for a post-doc researcher who is conducting a psychological study on chronic stress is a perfect start to think of going into research. This job is also different from the average jobs my peers have, given the tremendous amount of both academic and non-academic skills that I've learned from this job; research skills, oral, interpersonal, computer skills, discipline, accuracy and even scientific theories. My work includes interviewing people, recording data on excel, counting heart rates to Xeroxing essential materials. Interviewing various kinds of people has developed communication skills overtime. Recording the precise time has trained my accuracy. Using a special program to score data has developed my computer skills. Overall, This job has given me an idea on how the research world operates. It gives me a motivation and a basic experience to go into research for my later years of education.
