Undergraduate / University of Michigan Supplement - What attracts you to attend UM? [2]

What does it mean to be a Wolverine?
The University of Michigan is known world-wide, it is one of the most renowned schools around the globe and the opportunities that the university offers are infinite. The University of Michigan encompasses so many traits that would challenge me daily as well as provide maximum enjoyment of my college years. The energy of being a Big Ten school, the hustle and bustle of living in the busy city of Ann Arbor and the academic challenges I will face in every class are just a few examples that cause me to desire to attend the University of Michigan.

Socially, the University of Michigan offers limitless opportunities to make a blossoming network, to engage in service projects, to immerse myself in my religion, and participate in elite and historic athletic programs. Ultimately, the University of Michigan provides opportunities which will allow me to develop into the person I am meant to be. As I have lived in a small town all of my life opportunities such as these have been limited, hence, the notion of having such advantageous, delightful opportunities at my fingertips astounds me.

Certainly, the social opportunities are just one of the many ways that I see the University of Michigan benefiting me. Academically, the University of Michigan is known as one of the most distinguished schools in the world. This reputation creates high-standards that will challenge me to improve my overall academic abilities.

Specifically I am applying to the undergraduate College of Literature, Science and the Arts, or LSA. This college, the broadest of all of the undergraduate schools, will provide a firm academic foundation which will support my future endeavors. After achieving my bachelor's degree I hope to attend the University of Michigan's medical school to receive a medical degree. With this goal in mind, I believe that the undergraduate college of LSA would benefit me immensely and prepare me for the demands of medical school. Indeed, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts would allow me to take a heavy load of science classes and a concentration in pre-med, thoroughly preparing me for my future academic ventures.

Attending the University of Michigan has always been a dream of mine. Point in fact, the University of Michigan is an amazing school, it has so much to offer a young student and is a major piece in the puzzle for my lifelong goal of graduating from a top ten medical school.

So what is it that attracts me to the University of Michigan? I suppose you could say the social opportunities or the reputable academics or even the diversity I will encounter; but in reality, it is a mixture of all of these things combined. I am attracted to all that calling oneself a Wolverine means; it encompasses the heart of what the University of Michigan really is. With that said, I look forward to the day that I will, hopefully, be honored with the ability to call myself a Wolverine.
