Undergraduate / 'everyone has their strengths' - admissions topic is diversity [2]
I've been writing my admissions essay for a university. The deadline is Friday. You have to write on essay with your definition of diversity and how you can contribute diversity to the school. I have my defintion and some of it written, but it needs some editing and a couple more paragraphs. I'm in the process of working on the second and third paragraphs, so just skim over those. Help would be appreciated!

The word diversity can have a range of definitions and meanings. I would define diversity as someone being unique from their friends and peers. A person with diversity has individuality or traits that make them different. A person's uniqueness could come from their gender, age, religion, ethnical race, where they live, interests, hobbies, or background. Everyone can be unique, which in itself, brings diversity. I believe I have diversity that the University of ********* would love to have on campus and in the classroom.
Many undergraduates at the University of ********* live in the state of ********. They grew up learning to love the campus and the *********. I, however, do not live in *********. I live in a smaller town in northeast Tennessee called Kingsport. I know that where I am from influences my hobbies and interests.
Another way that I can contribute to diversity at UK is I am adopted. This gives me a different outlook on family structure.
Furthermore, online websites say that people can be diverse in their religious beliefs. I am Catholic. I grew up going to mass every Sunday with my family, I have received four of the seven sacraments, and I love God. I have found that being involved with my youth group and having my closest friends being part of the same faith has helped me become a better person and overcome obstacles. Although I am proud to be Catholic, I accept other people's beliefs and do not criticize their religion. I have had people judge me because of my religion, but I try to not lash out at those who are different from me.
On the university's website, it is stated that diversity is one of the strengths of American society. In my mind, this means that everyone has their strengths that make society better as a whole. I believe my examples of my diversity will be a great addition to the classroom and the kids I will be going to classes with. I also believe that the diversity they bring will have a positive impact on me. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay. I hope you consider accepting me into the University of *********.
