Graduate / Graduate study in Industrial and Physical Pharmacy; SOP [2]

Institute keeps a word count limit of not more than 500 words and the deadline is very near, January 1st. Please help.
Purdue puts the following requirements for SOP
The statement of purpose should be 300-500 words concerning your purpose for undertaking or continuing graduate study, your reasons for wanting to study at Purdue, and your research interests, professional plans, and career goals. You also may explain any special circumstances applicable to your background and elaborate on your scholarly publications, awards, achievements, abilities, and/or professional history.

It is after much contemplation and a good deal of self-evaluation that I have decided to pursue graduate study in Industrial and Physical Pharmacy at Purdue University leading to a doctorate. This decision followed naturally after cogitating on my traditional weavers' familial background, the academic setting, research experience, areas of my interest, and my ultimate career aspiration, which is to pursue a research oriented career in an R & D department of the pharmaceutical industry.

It was my decision that to stay along with and support my financially recessed and morally depressed parents in the difficult time marked my dramatic entrance into the field of pharmacy even though I had mathematics background in post-secondary education. My 'love what you do' attitude helped me to be among the top performers in the class. The practical sessions of my undergraduation captured my interest in drug delivery research and this further kindled the fire to secure admission for pursuing my Masters education in the country's premier research institute, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER).

During the course of my stay at NIPER, the thought provoking lectures, multi disciplinary course work, dissertations and talks by experts illustrated the intricacies, nuances, technicalities and challenges involved in research. As a part of my Masters program, I worked on a project entitled "Comparative Evaluation of Cyclodextrin Complex and Solid Lipid Nanoparticles of Atorvastatin calcium (ATC)" under the supervision of Dr. Sarasija Suresh where we investigated the ability of the two delivery strategies to improve the oral bioavailability of ATC. A manuscript is under progress with the same title. This guided independent work has given me a good understanding of the theoretical knowledge and wide array of practical skills and this further corroborated my interest in research.

The thirst for learning and insight, desire for reaching the frontiers of knowledge in the subfield of drug delivery with an emphasis on the oral delivery of biotechnological drugs and bioavailability enhancement of small molecules and the yearning for keeping abreast of latest developments in these fields drive me towards a research oriented career. A quote by Albert Einstein says, "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it" and my choice for graduate studies not only helps me in reaching the next level of conscience to address the challenges in the chosen field but also leads to the betterment of my family.

The IPPH graduate program at Purdue University is well suited to my goals. The academic environment, the diverse and in-depth course work, excellent lab facilities on par with pharmaceutical industry coupled with eminent faculty encourages learning and promotes skill acquisition. The program attracts people from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds and this creates an excellent environment for personal as well as intellectual growth. I would cherish the seasonal weather, the small town charm and big city amenities of West Lafayette.

I look forward to joining Purdue University as a graduate student at your esteemed department.
