Undergraduate / Core Curriculum /Enlightening discussions ; COLUMBIA SUP/ Most Appealing [2]
Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why.
Because I had already decided to major in electrical engineering, I thought the courses I would take in college would be those focused around math and science. However, when I attended an information tour during the summer, my perception of my education changed. As I heard an alumni speak passionately about Columbia's Core Curriculum and the experience he got out from the rigorous program, I began to see my future from the eyes of a Columbia graduate. I began to want this experience for myself.
When he led us out to Butler Library, familiar names of Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle, and many other philosophers appeared on the façade of the building. As he explained why those names were chiseled into the building, I remembered the enjoyable yet enlightening discussions I had with Mr. Rodriguez, my AP World History teacher. At that moment, I realized that my knowledge in literature, in history, and in the arts and music is equally as important as my knowledge in math and science. I knew that I could not and would not be complete without a strong base in the humanities. Columbia's balance between the humanities and math and science in its curriculum is what I find most appealing.

Please be critical about the content. I'm not too worried with the grammar, although that would help. Thanks in advance.
