Hello joythblessy,
I think people can be lonely and unhappy if they live in a high rise or a home. Possibly, more single people live in high rises thus the tendency to be lonely. One of the biggest trends in high rise design are "common areas" these include outdoor kitchens, lounges, areas for dogs to play, gyms, social lounges, recreation centers, yoga studios and other common areas where residents can socialize and meet their neighbors. I will say that without those amenities in the design, the high rise will offer little more than a place to sleep. As the population continues to grow, there will be an increased need to build up, up, and away. Hopefully architects continue to challenge the status quo of high rise building design to create communities that are thriving and healthy.
